The 'insert attachment' behavior is native to SMF 2, and I don't see any easy way to allow for auto-insertion of attachments.  Part of the idea is that you might want to upload an attachment (especially files that aren't images) that you can't or don't want to insert into the body of the post.

Automatic X embedding is not native to SMF, and has to be set up via an unsupported modification written by an anonymous rando.  It worked so poorly that I had to spend hours re-writing the code, and this is not my paying job.

I'm in OKC tonight for Tool tomorrow night.  On the 10th floor of a hotel.

The earthquake was wild!  I thought I was losing my mind until the boy confirmed the bed was shaking and we saw the curtain rod swinging around.

We just experienced the 5th.  I'm glad we happened to both be awake.  I've only ever felt one other one, in Fayetteville about 15 years ago.
