The play worked...until the player who had had a good game to that point didn't secure the ball. 

My criticism of Bobby for this game was running straight ahead (no zone read) on first down so much in the second half. Starting 2nd and 9-10 killed a couple of drives. 

I don't fault Sam so much for this one score loss.  The only really questionable decision was trying the FG on the first possession.  He clearly didn't see what was coming with the defense.  Had he made the same call on 4th and 2 at any point after the first drive, I'd have my pitchfork out with the rest of you. 

We did pretty well to have a chance at the end given how poorly the defense played along with the fact that the officials were worth about 14 points in OM's favor.

It's not an Arkansas tradition.  It's the state of the program since losing losers decided to hire and be satisfied with the worst coaches in program history.  Loses whine we can't do better.  Winners don't take that excuse.

It's a mindset.

Ole Miss has passed us recently because they have a young, redneck, aggressive AD who played basketball there and hates us because Nolan would not give him a scholarship.

He lives and breathes Ole Miss.  If they can't win or improve, it bothers him.  He takes it personally.

He's excellent at getting their donors to step up.  He negotiated Kiffin the smart way and made Yurachek look stupid.  He saw that Beard is a great coach and went for it when he had a chance,  without thinking about the "oh he needs to prove himself stable somewhere else" bullshit. He didn't think for a second about "what it might look like".

He loves his school,  and he wants to win.  Period.

We have hired the corporate types since JFB and we've been on the decline.

Until we find that similar person, obsessed with making Arkansas sports successful,  nothing will change.

There are a half dozen woopiggas who would get better results as AD than Yurachek, because they care and see obvious stuff when it is obvious.

And I'm not being hyperbolic.

I went back and looked. 2 of those were to powerhouses Colorado State and then San Jose State. He played A&M close, which just goes to show how weird that series has been since they joined the SEC. Nearly beat Kentucky, too, and Ole Miss his first year.

But to have that many one score games over the last 14 seasons is crazy, and even crazier that we've lost so many of them.

I'd agree with that. We are not a desirable program from a football stand point. Over a decade of mediocrity to bad results. A lack of instate talent being produced. From what has been mentioned online (no one knows actual numbers), not competing with the top schools in NIL. We used to could sell TX kids on coming to play in the SEC, now that's gone.

You made good points though and I agree with it. The corporate AD that only cares about their portfolio has not worked out for us at all. Frank was exactly how you described the current Ole Miss AD to be. I don't believe that Houston Nutt is that person, but I think he could probably help with the NIL situation. For whatever reason he's really been making the rounds throughout the state, which I feel is sorta paving the way for him to become at least somewhat involved in the University. Yurachek has had one foot out the door for a few years now but no one wants him.

our defensive scheme in the first half did our not so great secondary no favors. all the blitzing and never getting to the qb left a bunch of confused db in man and made them look retarded. in the second half we ran base d and at least made them punt twice. small victory.

our o-line is light years better than last year. they blitzed a shitload too and got zero sacks and two tfl on running plays.

someone in this thread mentioned green was limping, apparently he played with some kind of hammy issue.  and he still kicked ass. go compare his stats to the guys that were preseason heisman picks.

That last stop we went with a zone on 3rd and 6 and the QB pissed on his leg.  Maybe if we had tried that earlier instead of blitzing OBVIOUSLY on so many other 3rd downs and getting torched repeatedly.
