Yes I think he played the first couple games and really should have got some meaningful snaps the other day but they never went to him. He redshirted last season so none of that four game stuff means a whole lot other than maybe working a medical year for him down the line.

So he can still redshirt... :suicide:

Ah, just saw he did that last year. Excellent.

Quote from: piglosopher on Sep 30, 2025, 08:21 AMI think we see very little, if anything new. On the contrary, we'll see less variation. You can't install anything in the middle of the season.

At this point, it's better to do basic and the "meat and potatoes" stuff well then introducing anything.

We may see less of the zone RPO we keep trying to establish, but has been sniffed out and countered by the last two defenses, relatively easily.

Quote from: passed on Sep 30, 2025, 06:15 AMI'm not sold on the notion that Bobby would be pressured by NIL.  I think he stubbornly clings to some things, we all know he has a history of doing that.  He also has a love of guys that can do special things.  He used to frequently say of Mallett that there were 3-4 plays every game that no other QB could have made.  He has said similar about Green.  Which also brings up a real pro/con of Bobby's system... He relies on his QB being smart enough to bail him out of a bad play.  I don't think TG has the smarts or length of leash to do that.  Mallett did, and even then he and Petrino would sometimes butt heads with Petrino being mad that Mallett changed the call, even though the call Mallett made was the right one.  He needs a QB that is smart, and has the force of will and character to make the right call and stand up to him.  I don't think TG has that... and he definitely doesn't have the long leash.  Of course, you're also correct.  We shall see if Bobby starts putting out KJ.

I moreso meant pressure from his boss to keep trotting him out there. I think Bobby had full reigns on play calling, but might have been getting overruled on some personnel decisions. I think we see a little more of KJ, especially if these next two get out of reach, like we expect or if Green is just playing bad. I don't expect to see him dropped in as starter on the next two by any means, but if Green plays poorly over the next two, and KJ shows promise, he might want to show a flash of the future for his resume.

Grit mentioned today that Alfred Davis (played here 2009-2012) might be the guy to coach the DL. He has coached DL at Mizzou and Illinois

It's possible that you're right.  However, Bobby has long been stubborn about his QB, and generally doesn't pull them even when playing poorly.  He doesn't like that getting in their heads.  I think we'll find out if Green really still is his guy, though.

Stepped away for "personal reasons" and is at a Columbia high school currently. Was rumored to go to LSU last year.

If there's going to be a time to make adjustments, against Tennessee will be the time.  Two weeks to install, right?

I think the most we can hope for is effort and maybe a shift in the base defense, but I don't think they can do much in the way of scheme install.

I'll take that.  I have to say if we had three or four starters on defense that didn't make the trip to Knoxville, I'd be ok with that too.

If I'm not mistaken he still lives in NWA. Hopefully Petrino took the bike out for a spin and did doughnuts in his yard.

He certainly would always get a head start on doing it.

In the case of Green, since he's done anyway after this year and looking at his NIL as a sunk cost, there's not really anything now to force playing him for political reasons.

I mean, he could always Nope out of the rest of the season, but if he does, oh well.

petrino brought him in and the offensive staff is still together, he ain't leaving because pittman is gone.
