This is my thoughts on Bobby. I don't think he's going to be a serious candidate barring a miracle or complete abortion of the hiring process, which is entirely possible.

You're probably right.  Kind of feels like the obligatory give him a chance kind of thing, knowing full well there's little he can do to right the ship mid season.  Then they can pick someone else while shutting up the fans who would otherwise be hounding for Petrino, by saying he just couldn't get it done.

At any rate, I think petrino will coach as hardest as he ever will have. This is the shot he's finally been waiting for.

It shall be interesting

I hope they're better than the halftime adjustments Petrino has made the last three weeks.
The offense has scored a whopping 10 points in the second half in last six quarters.

Is Petrino going to be his own OC while playing head coach?  What is baby brother doing these days?
Things of that nature

vegashog

i think the best sceraio is someone like sumrall or golesh and they keep petrino as oc.

I predict you'll see a different Bobby Petrino.  He won't have Sam overriding his decisions now.  Decisions that he wouldn't have made.

I think a lot of people are underestimating the difference between a head coach and a coordinator.

He has a shot.  He's back on top, and it's everything he's ever wanted.

Quote from: vegashog on Sep 28, 2025, 03:57 PMand he had a bunch of family members on the staff (and at missouri st., his son is the oc and his son in law is the dc currently) that didn't sit too well with them.

imo, he'll have to convince the powers that be he's willing to go outside his comfort zone in hiring staff.

One son-in-law is the HC at SMS now.

I bet we see the same shitty team.  The die is cast for this season.

I bet we see some improvement.  How much I don't know.  I mean we should have beaten Ole Miss at Oxford.  Ole Miss is going to he ranked in the top ten and undefeated.  We're bad but the difference between being awful and a decent team isn't as far as some on here seem to think.

We could easily be 4-1 with our only loss to a team that played for the NC last year.

And if Petrino had been our HC, that is exactly where we would be.

This is where I am.

A proper coach beats Memphis and Ole Miss. We may or may not have lost to ND, I dont know, but I know what it looks like when a team gives up on a coach, and that was yesterday. Once you give up, losing big is how it goes, no matter the opponent.

If we go into the Notre Dame game 4-0, we're ranked number 15 or so, at home, and full of players who think they have a future.

The team gave up on Sam, offense and defense. Everyone. If Bobby can win them back we can surprise some folks. If not (if they figure they're just going to portal out anyway) then there's nothing that can be done.

If he can instill Give a Shit, then they can maybe have a shot at a couple of these games.
They straight up laid down and rolled over on national TV against Notre fricking Dame on their own field.
I dont know if they have the fortitude to turn it around. Quitters quit. It's hard to get somebody to not be a quitter.
The same people demanding everyone embrace your beliefs, have zero tolerance and condemn another for embracing theirs.  Oh, the irony.

Also the timing of yurchecks comments didn't help just shortly after a tough loss to ole miss on the road. I do think there was a little more quit after that. But I too believe they will get a little re-energized after the firing and maybe pull off an upset. I'd say maybe a$m could be that game but idk. Might not be the year, but I'm sure bobby would love to get that one, especially.

If it's me I'm calling a team meeting and reminding these fuckers that they're costing themselves cash by putting that weak ass loafing shit on film.   Hell they might not be here and the coaches might not be here next year but every game they have an opportunity to put good shit on film which will get them paid here or somewhere else next year.   If they're gonna loaf I'm gonna go down the roster till I find someone interesting in putting in effort.  Will gladly let them put good tape out and go get paid

If Petrino wins some games, he will be the coach.  I know he has money backing him.  That's why he got the majority of the NIL spend this year.

The power that brought him here did so to give him this shot.  That's what the infighting was about I'd guarantee.  But you either have money behind you, or your toast now.
Williams and the other coaches wives knew they were being left behind IMO.

I laugh when people say Bobby can't be the head coach based on some rule.  That's not the way it is anymore.

However,  we might have another person who gets even more money.  The game yesterday got a lot of attention.  Looking at it now, it was the best thing that ever happened to our program.

Of all the names rumored, it won't be those.  It will be Bobby or another Cal type hire.
