Quote from: Guardrail on Nov 01, 2025, 08:05 PMWe got screwed, a lot. But the call on Rhodes was as egregious as the 2009 Malcom Sheppard call. The play was never blown dead was it?  there was no whistle.
And then to have Green tackled almost the same way with no flag screams bias.

Add in that the dude likely fumbled as well as the ball looked to come out before he hit the ground.  This is all without the whistle being blown.  ALL THE REF HAD TO DO WAS BLOW THE FUCKING WISTLE and the dude never hits the ground, but he didn't so the play was live.  If their dude had broken free and run for a TD, that would have stood as a TD, you know it, I know it.

HOGSRUNWILD

I hope they get doxxed and their houses burned down to the ground.  Whether they are inside them when it happens...

I think he's a better evaluator than Sam but if we want our program to be successful we have to increase our talent. We cannot continue to ask a coach to do more with less. Sure there are some years it works (Vandy, IU) but more times than not, it won't.

Yep

Did we look well coached tonight?

We haven't looked well coached for 12 years.  Expecting an interim coach to fix all the issues created by the previous coach is retarded.

Do you think Nick Sabin would have this team in a different spot?  Hell, pick the best coach out there right now.  Is this team any different?  No.

BleedinRed

I'll add this.  It is clear no one in this board watches Bobby's press conferences.  When Sam was fired Bobby spoke a little on the topic of preparation; both practice and pregame.  It is clear Sam had no clue how to run a program.  Full stop.  Bobby isn't responsible for that.

Let's not forget that fast whistle last week for forward progress while Washington was still driving forward.

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Quote from: Keyser Soooie on Nov 01, 2025, 07:36 PMNo idea where you're getting from, he's  2-13 in his last 15 P4 games as a HC. He time has past.

Once he's unemployed NO other P4 school will want him for a HC, not one.

Well that settles it.  Guess we need to go hire a "proven" coach.  Someone like Brett Bilema.

Every coach is going to be a crap shoot.  All I know is BO was hit successful in his first stint.  He wants the job and isn't playing the university for a pay day.

More simply than that, I think he can be successful here.

Saban lost to ULM before he turned Bama around.

This.   As long as the whistle hasn't blown the ball carrier is a threat to break loose.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

It doesn't matter. Today it was the refs.

But bad teams ALWAYS find new and novel ways to lose. Sometimes it's the defense. Sometimes it's the offense. Sometimes it's special teams. Sometimes it's coaching. And sometimes it's the refs.

But where there's a way, we'll find the way. Today our penalties were the way. It really doesn't matter if the game had been called perfectly. We would have found another way.

It's what bad teams do.

Head coaches with 2nd stints at a school don't work out well. For the crowd wanting a 2nd stint as UA HC for Petrino (not me) you need to check out these reference points of the 8 coaches that have tried this in P4 football...Only 1 Mike Reilly at Oregon St did better in 2nd stint.... all others did worse the 2nd time around.
-John Robinson USC (58yo 2nd stint)
1st stint 82% wins, 2nd stint 67% wins
- Bill Snyder Kan St (70)
1st stint 66%, 2nd stint 61%
-Bobby Petrino Loiusville (53)
1st stint 82%, 2nd stint 58%
-Mack Brown NoCaro (68)
1st stint 60%, 2nd stint 57%
-Bill Walsh Stanford (62)
1st stint 70%, 2nd stint 50%
-Greg Schiano Rutgers (54)
1st stint 50%, 2nd stint 43%
-Johnny Majors Pitt (58)
1st stint 71%, 2nd stint 27%
-Mike Reilly Oregon St (52)
1st stint 36%, 2nd stint 56%

We are a bad team, but we've somehow lost 5 games by 16 total points. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I think coaching is getting about as much out of this bunch as they can.

BleedinRed

Good news for some is BP knows it's over.  His body language in the post game conference confirms it.

The worst thing about today is it has to last an hour longer than usual.

I probably am in this camp as well. I really don't blame Petrino for this mess at all. I think we either need to stick with him or accept we'll be rolling the dice on another gigantic question mark like we did with Pittman.

Quote from: AporkalypseNow on Nov 01, 2025, 07:49 PMNOBODY can say that game was well officiated or equally officiated with a straight face.

But we were dumb, including Petrino himself.

This.

The game was horrendously officiated and we were undisciplined as hell (which is on Petrino for not having the team pull their heads out of their asses)

Both things can be true at the same time.

It's a new era of college football now.  That's what everyone says.  NIL has changed everything.  As a result, all those stats you cite are outdated and not relevant.  Or maybe not, who knows.

like I said in the next coach thread, no one truly proven wants to touch our program.  I've resigned myself that we will suck for 5-6 years and then repeat the process.  Based on how our fans think, the program will never be successful.

that's okay.  I've got 30-40 years left.   Once I die the Razorback fandom in my house dies too.
