They probably figured, "Well, he beat us so he must be good." Not realizing, you didn't have to be good to beat us this year.
Well, shit...

Makes a lot of sense why HY took the CFP interim chair. He'll need that on his resume.

egregious

This might be the first thread where it got to 6 pages with EVERY SINGLE POST in agreement.

Maybe we can reverse jinx him to success.

CFB may go the way of the NFL for me.
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

Quote from: buff2.0 on Nov 30, 2025, 11:59 AMI thought BP knew weeks ago.  On second thought, this has the feel of us never even considering BP as the full-time head coach next year.  It makes a lot of the apparent lack of fucks given by the team make more sense.  He did a heck of a job just to get them out on the field every week, much less to make the games even close.  They came to play for him, but they all knew it wasn't going to get him the job.  We probably called Silverfield the day after we fired Sam.

We probably called him the day after we lost to Memphis.  HY probably thought, Hey, we should hire this guy because he beat our AWESOME Arkansas team that is going to be so good and Sam is going to retire at the end of the year so I'm going to offer him the job now before someone else gets him.  Then when the wheels fell over after ND, they asked BMFP to fill in until the end of the year, but there was 0 chance he was going to get the job and he knew it.

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Nov 30, 2025, 11:38 AMNeeded someone who would excite the fanbase.  Or at the very least we needed someone with a hook we could sell and manufacture some excitement.  Kane Wommack and his Arkansas ties fits that second mold.  And it is important because excitement means money and money means talent and talent means wins.

Instead we got neither. This guy is a complete wait-and-see hire with most people pretty convinced from the start that he will fail.  No excitement, no money, no nothing.  I hope he got some commitments from some big boosters for NIL or it will be bad.
I didn't want to believe it true but this coaching search has made it clear that UAF-from the BOT on down-does not care for or about Men's Athletics in general and the football program specifically. DVH found a patron in the Hunt family and Cal had a previous personal relationship with JT or else those programs would be languishing, as well.

The fact that HY scurried off to seek national face-time with the Playoff Committee instead of devoting his time to his actual duty as an AD and making sure that the University secured the best qualified coach available, and the fact that the BOT evidently was untroubled by this dereliction of duty should tell us all we need to know.

If Silverfield is the guy, Arkansas will annually field a team of 2* and 3* athletes, the stands will be consistently half-empty and we will pursue Vandy's record of 26 straight SEC losses until he is fired in 3-4 years. Wash, rinse, repeat.

This is the long way to say "We Arkansas'd the shit out of the whole process."

Taking the Jeff Long route.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar when his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

October 25th.

He's beaten Golesh 3 times straight and has a better resume. I hate the HUNH, so glad it's not Golesh.

There's no polishing this turd.

Unless he beats Texass, he will be on a short leash.

I wanted Bobby from the beginning. Silverfield is as good a hire as any of the rest of the candidates.

I do think there were a lot of meh candidates. However, we seem to have gotten the most meh of the bunch.

Except for the fact memphis fans are elated to see him go. I imagine the fanbases of the rest of the candidates would prefer to keep their coach.

That is so much copium even from the University.  Back to back 10-win seasons!  Memphis won 12 games the year before he became the HC, and haven't done that since.
