So we're gonna bring in better coordinators than our HC? Sounds familiar.

Yes

Given the nature of the beast there's really no reason we can't field a quality bowl eligible football team year to year. It takes money and vision...we gotta know where to put that money. We gotta know who we want to retain and identify any potential in-state kids that might want to reconsider now that we're done with this current staff. Not knowing the specifics I'm going hazard we spent entirely too much money on QB and probably RB. We whiffed on a lot of defensive guys probably because we just didn't have the money allocation.

I think ideally we need to identify some solid 7's as DTs and not go after and whiff on the 9's and end up with 4's. Same can be said at multiple positions.

Probably close to last in the conference in pay which also says a lot about the commitment to winning up there...but we already knew that. Right now he's still under this delusion that "they are gonna fix shit" and "they" have no intentions.

I'm just gonna put this out there.

I'm hardly a sunshine pumper (I was one of the first posters out on Yurachek years ago), but I actually find the negativity around the Silverfield hire perplexing.

He has a pretty decent track record with a good sample size in arguably the best non-P4 conference in college football in a program in our backyard. Is he the second coming of Urban Meyer? No. Is he Chad Morris 2.0? Almost assuredly not.

Our last 2 hires were a coach with a losing record at SMU and a career OL coach actively making retirement plans, but we're rioting in the streets because we hired a guy who won 8-10 games a year at Memphis?

Let's let the press conference and some staff hires play out and see what type of program he wants to run before we preemptively declare this the worst hire ever.

EDIT - one more thing. There's no such thing as a home run hire. Every hire is a complete unknown, good or bad. Brian Kelly and Jimbo Fisher were sure fire, home run hires. Conversely, Tennessee fans were hardly booking tickets for the CFP when Heupel was hired (record declined every year at UCF), and A&M fans weren't celebrating in the streets about hiring Elko.

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

That's actually not terrible given the modern economic landscape of college football.

Hell, Billy Napier was making nearly $8M at Florida coming out of ULL.

What is the buyout?  That is the key.

As I said before, I'll support the coach until he gives me reason not to support him.

As for the program, Meh

They have given me zero.zero reason to have any other feeling.

Probably balance of the contract, if I had to guess. Seems to be becoming the standard as the salaries increase.

The Whyte Boar

Meh...none of the guys we apparently were looking at were sure things.  And he is bound to be better than Sam.  So I guess we got that going for us.

With the exception of LSU, Virginia Tech made a better hire than anyone in the SEC.  That's sort of telling.

Lurk

At this point I'm happy to have a coach that will actually be able to physically do the job. If he's not a drunk, retarded or physically incapable of doing the job, he'll be a step up from our last three coaches.

I don't disagree with any of this and I don't hate Silverfield. I fucking despise Yuraclown and the program in general. He was clearly a panic hire but it's all a crapshoot anyway.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.
