I ain't going full retard about this hire like some of y'all, but among the younger coaches that I liked, he would be towards the bottom. I had a feeling we would Arkysaw this hire up and we did. I'll wait and see what his coaching staff looks like and how he recruits before before really judging the hire. Hopefully it works out. I hope Trey feels like a real "insider" now.

Record wise Silverfield is more accomplished than the anointed hot names out there...the issue is he's got a longer track record to look at and it's giving people the ick. A rational person such as myself has already had my dose of cope and am willing to at least give the guy as chance. I'm not stumping the hire but on the same token I wasn't all that excited about any of these guys. None of them are as accomplished as the Kiffin or Dork when they were hired the same year we hired a career position coach to be our head coach. I believe that same season South Carolina hired a career assistant in Shane Beamer but he had a higher profile than that of Pittman and somehow is still head coach at South Carolina. 

I don't know what the ceiling is for Ryan Silverfield but I'd bet there's good odds he's already seen it at Memphis. I'll happily eat my words...I don't know a fucking thing about the guy in terms of personality. The coach that can come in here and magic this shit up, fix NIL, fix fan engagement, get in-state kids put back as a bit more of a priority than we've seen since covid. It's a tall order but we've got to have a high energy guy that can really provide a vision for what this program can be. We don't need a circus act, nor a "understands the SEC" yokel. Just provide some authentic football ball knower and lets just see what happens.

I think next year is looking like 2013 all over again. Tough schedule with few if any wins, killing momentum and angering an already underwhelmed (at best) fanbase. He might win 6 games the next year, and many get that magic 8 wins for a big contract extension, but after that it'll be 6 wins, 4 wins, 5 wins and fired.
