Pretty sure Silverfield is taking a cut in NIL moving to Arkansas. Memphis is getting $5mil/yr from FedEx alone.

That is all the money in Memphis.  There is no other industry. A town that lives on FedEx part time labor, medicine, govt jobs, transfer payments.

Can't speak for everyone, but I think the hope was that we would hire someone that could drive up a significant NIL backing to get better players. Better coach + better players = better chance at winning. Maybe more NIL will be there, but there hasn't been any mention of it through this hiring.

This feels like moving on to the next coach with the same problems. We have a problem acquiring talent that is seemingly getting worse, not better.

auburn gave Golish a 6 year deal at $7.4m per with incentives (he could make $12m if he has a 12 win season)
Florida gave Sumrall a 6 year deal at $7.5m per with incentives

so we went cheap again. no wonder Golesh didn't sign.

All the talk of adding $40m to the football program over 4 years that includes salaries is $10 mill a year.

the folks in charge need to wake up, we're in the SEC and everyone has money - adding $10m a year to our pot isn't going to move the needle.

the AD admitted the resources are not in place in his 8th year on the job which became the 3rd winless SEC record in those 8 years was allowed to make a hire. Has he even given the Chancellor his "plan" to make football relevant or did he misspeak again?
