Are we finally ready to jump on the Gus Bus?

I could see Gus being in the back channels aiming for the AD chair if not higher. That's a gig he can keep his name active while working a plush gig for the next 10 years or so with little consequences for failure. Memories are really short but the dudes last couple stops were really awful so we would be bringing in a dinosaur that doesn't get the "new model" to come in and fix what he clearly doesn't understand either. In order to get better you have to first admit you have a problem. That problem has repeatedly been misplaced at the feet of the head coaches. We'll buy time by forcing the termination of position coaches and coordinators and then when things become too fucked up they pull the trigger on the head coach. Wash, rinse, repeat.

For people like Gus and Dorkwitz they've stayed away from the job for whatever the reason but you can be assured there is a reason. Mostly it probably came down to better options but i do wonder what other things lurk in the inner court of the Univ of Arkansas that could be keeping the really ambitious types away. On the surface we've just repeatedly looked cheap while flashing our superficial facilities which have done zippo in terms of building a winning culture. There isn't a program in America that wins football games by pure luck with champagne tastes and a Old Mil budget but Arkansas repeatedly attempts to do just that. We'll raise the bar just in time for everyone to double whatever the fuck they did two years ago. They'll double it without blinking...they'll do whatever it takes to get and stay competitive...we're still figuring out who to go to hat in hand.

Fans absolutely have to give in this new model. Ole Miss is a prime example of a program that is locked in and supposedly has great contribution from the fan base. Arkansas would probably be that way too if you gave the fans some kind of hope. Instead it's more temu head coaches saying the same things that never get fixed. Arkansas fans are savvy to knowing what a loser looks like by now...everyone saw the first 15 minutes against North Alabama and we all collectively said...Losers

He said at the LR touchdown club that the governor at the time stepped in and told us not to hire him from astate. Who knows if he would have come here then, though. What could the governor actually do other than sulk if we had hired him?

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Sep 13, 2026, 09:11 AMThis situation is solely on HY and typically Arkansas.  Pittman actually did have success that first year when you consider we only played an SEC schedule and he won three conference games.  If Pittman had done what he said he would do and gone to the house after going 4-8 and if we had an AD who was strong enough to make him, we wouldn't be here.  Instead Sam dug in and HY didn't have the guts to make the move until we hit rock bottom.

Any competent AD would have fired Pittman after 2023 at the very latest.  Unfortunately ours saw 2022 as a rousing success instead of the massive underachievement it really was after winning a Liberty Bowl we nearly pissed away.  That 2022 team should have won a minimum of nine games based on the talent we had relative to the schedule and how the games actually played out.  We lost three games 100% because of Pittman's terrible game management (aTm, LSU, Missouri) and one against a severely outmanned opponent (Liberty).  Thus 2023 should have been the do-or-die year, not the one more chance to save your job.

The ultimate cause of the death of our program was the firing of BP on 4/7/12.  But it was still on life support and the patient tried to wake up for a bit from 2020-2022 before Yurachek yanked out the ventilator and unplugged the equipment the day he offered Pittman that irrational buyout.

This is what we need.

The dildo of consequence, rarely arrives lubed.

Golesh, Sumrall, Morris all look like infinitely better hires than Silverfish. Of course Hunter locked in on this guy. Fire Yuracheeks straight into the sun.

I don't think that is big enough.

Silverfield sucks so far, but firing him is nothing more than putting a band-aid over a gunshot wound to the heart.

So is firing HY.  We need a PTB enema.  Purge em all.

At least getting rid of HY would be using QuikClot on the wound.

It's a sucking chest wound.  I think that'd just kill us quicker.  Fuck it, I'm in.

Sarah will get to appoint several more cronies to the BOT. We're fucked for life.

Quote from: passed on Sep 13, 2026, 09:47 AMI kind of can't help but wonder, at this point, if the real problem isn't the AD / BoT / Univ people that is the problem.
This is 100% of the problem.

This lets Hunter off too easy.

Let's agree on 75%.

I don't know the politics outside of Arkansas but I'd be curious about how other schools are run so maybe someone can enlighten us. Like say...I assume every school has something akin to what we have with a variable amount of involvement.

Chancellor > BOT > OUT OF BAND FUNDRAISING MODEL > AD > Coach/Front Office of Sport > Assistants > Players > Suicidal fans

I know last season it was pointed out that our fundraising model is ancient and doesn't work but is bound by state law and I also don't think anything ever got done about that.
