It appears based on this that schools cannot sign anyone out of the portal until after Dec 3rd and student athletes cannot enter the portal until this time either. There is a maximum of 60 days per year in which a kid can enter and be signed out of the portal. Grad athletes I understand can go into the portal whenever they want.

So anyway it seems weird that a kid(s) would bounce this quickly into the season and quit on their team but what ever...kids these days are such bitches.

You've already eaten up this year's amount of eligibility why not stay on the field longer to "showcase yourself"...I can understand it if you weren't playing.

Okie State might be a good landing spot for Sam to make a graceful exit after this year.  He'd probably be alright in the watered down Big 12.  Maybe he could trade in the place on Hamilton for one on Grand Lake or Keystone.
