could be why the playoffs are 12 team - 2 4 game weekends

Yes it's a "playoff" game. Yes that's why it gets the TV treatment of a playoff game

It's still a pretty shitty game as far as college football games go. 

If they put Illinois-South Carolina on opposite at the same time in the Cheez-it Citrus Bowl, I'd watch Bert and Beamer.

Why not have only eight teams? That would be the cleanest for scheduling and enough teams.
