It's possible Gundy will be involuntarily entered into the portal but they'll probably let him go a bit longer out of respect for the many years there. If no spring portal period I'm wondering if that's going to ratchet up schools timelines on getting rid of the coach in order to get the new one in there.

They won't but the portal should be a month after the final CFP game to allow for coaching moves and recruiting.
