It's possible Gundy will be involuntarily entered into the portal but they'll probably let him go a bit longer out of respect for the many years there. If no spring portal period I'm wondering if that's going to ratchet up schools timelines on getting rid of the coach in order to get the new one in there.

I think the only respect they have is to the $15 million buyout.  He took a pay cut in his salary but negotiated that huge fucking buyout that is linear for three years then drops to $10 mil the last two.  Aint no tbooone coming to pay it.  It also has a weird clause put in for him to pick and choose his successor.  Oops.  I'd say that AD is gonna be looking soon too.
