They'll just tell you to send more money. The only way to fix it is to give them more money to piss away. As someone said in one of these threads...the common denominator here is the big wigs up top. Whatever we're doing and whatever "we've always done" is a system of creating losers. That's probably bigger than the AD who's allowed to be mediocre, step on his dick repeatedly, and then go into hiding when it's convenient. The basketball program managed to break out of that with the hiring of Muss and Cal but we're another Pelphrey away from that being a dumpster fire again.

Everyone keeps saying we need to pony up the money to get better results. I disagree. Go make a decent hire that gives fans hope of actually competing and the money will flow. We have multiple teams getting better results that are supposedly ranked under us in NIL. I'd surmise the gap between 4 and 12 in nil is not that much in the grand scheme of things. It would be much more easily closed if we were even sniffing mediocrity.

This is where I have been for a few years now, the PTB and BOT control everything. They gave Long a short leash then cut ties after 2017, only to screw up the Chad Morris hire. COVID gave Pittman Super Seniors with Odom and Briles were competent coaches. Once Odom and Briles were gone, Pittman was left hoping he would get fired soon. Hiring BMFP was to keep the money coming in and just win enough to keep the ship from sinking. 

 Yurachek is just a puppet. He does what he is told and nothing more. He can bitch at the SEC and look tough, but that is it. He wasn't going to hire Cal until Tyson told him to. Threw Pittman under the bus, saying Odom was holding Pittman's hand. 

I believe Tyson is one of the PTB that is controlling basketball with someone else controlling baseball.

Football is not going to change until it is separate from the University and run like a NFL team by one competent owner where the BOT has no control and the rest of the money falls in line. Modernize everything to other teams in the SEC where possible and be decent again.

Anyway, back to the shitshow of 2026.

Can the right coach over come deficiencies in talent to win ~6 games a year, sure. We seem to be rolling the dice to find that guy and crapping out. Petrino was a good enough scheme guy to overcome gaps in talent. Pettino could also win more with better talent. He's proven that. I knew if we fired SP and lost BP, we would likely step back. I would've rather seen us pony up what we could to keep an elite offense, even if that meant keeping SP, rather than likely hiring a worse ataff.

The issue we have is the program is so toxic right now that we are going to have a competitive package and a commitment to trying to win in order to bring in any proven HC. That may not even be enough.

So we either keep rolling the dice and hope we hit, or fully commit. We only seem interested in the former.

We don't even roll the dice. Keeping Bobby would be more of rolling the dice to me. We're looking at the other table to see what they're rolling instead of actually going out and putting in elbow grease to make a deal happen with a qualified coach. We're pussies.
