I think we have a defense good enough to be respectable but the offense is holding everything back.

Next year we'll probably get a new OC and QB and put up a bunch of points but lose all the shootouts.

This quote got me thinking about life as an Arkansas football fan.  If you take the 2026 defense with the 2025 offense, we probably win 7-8 games.  The 2015 offense and 2014 defense probably competes for a national title.  Same with the 1989 offense and 1988 defense.  The best teams on both sides of the ball in my adult life were the 1998 and 2006 teams, and both teams were prevented from competing for national championships by absolute horrific special teams play in the biggest games of those years.  We can never catch lightning in a bottle in all 3 phases of the game for one season.

I guess there's one bright spot in all of this...the game is later which means they'll be able to test out their fancy new LED light system in a half packed stadium. How much again did we spend on LED lights as opposed to players?
