The thing about the LSU game was that it always mattered to one of the two teams.  More time than not LSU was the beneficiary but it always had implications. Every LSU fan I know was equally as unhappy when the game was moved to earlier in the year in favor of the A&M game.

Quote from: vegashog on Mar 10, 2023, 10:09 AMhas it really been a rivalry with lsu? 11-20 since joining the sec and only 4 wins since 2010.

personally i like ole miss being one of them. we've played them more than any other charter sec school and there has been some great games recently in the series.

Since 2010 You could say the same thing about every team we have played in the SEC.  We are not anyone rivalry at the moment.  But LSU or Ole Miss are natural options.  Missouri sucks as and I want nothing to do with Texass.

Prior to BMFP's wreck, it was a big game that had division and bowl game implications. Sam's played them well. I just think they've been more of a rival than anyone else.

We have been doing well defensive recruiting with the 5 star transfer, DE from Mizzou, LB, Baylor kids and now this?

Damn somebody is recruiting the shit out of defense now.

The word is several more top defensive targets are going to be visiting. Maybe somebody found the checkbook.

I respectfully disagree. Now that Texas, Texas AM and Oklahoma will be in the SEC, the old rivalries of the old Southwest Conference must return. It will take time, but, if LSU and Arkansas are no longer permanent opponents in football, IMHO Arkansas fans will return to their "Southwest Conference" mind-set. After hating on Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and Texas A M, there won't be much energy left over to hate on LSU.

I could be wrong. I mean, I do hope that this happens, because, I'm going to be rooting against all of those old Southwest Conference teams that I mentioned.

I mean, come on. Does ANY Hog fan hate LSU as much as they hate Texas and Tex AM?

If anybody remembers Bill Pusch (RIP), let me know. We were buddies at Camp Robinson. I'll never forget him. Great Soldier.

I hate Auburn more than any team other than texas, and they are pretty close.

I think it depends on age.  I never attended UA during the SWC, ergo A&M still seems strange to me.  I hate Ole Miss above all others.

I'm not real good at razorback history from well before my time. It was Broyles or Barnhill that decided that they had to pump the brakes on playing Mississippi and LSU because they were becoming bigger rivals than the Texas schools.  At the time, our future with football was dependent on Texas.

Tend to agree.

I'm much more of a fairweather, or foulweather depending on perspective, hater of LSU.  When y'all are good, it flows.  When you are DiNardoing around, I focus on the Golden Tigerettes or whatever they're called, and it's not so bad.

The old SWC schools, Ole Miss, the Cousin Grinders and the Gatorbates.  No love whatsoever.

The rest, it all depends on the current state of that program/team.

Son of Spam

I got to thinking, and figure Saban doesn't like his permanent opponents because everyone can cheat now. With NIL, there is no money under the table, per se. Sure players can still be bought, but now EVERYONE can buy them.
Well, shit...
