In fairness, I think it is little early in the whole NIL process for anyone to correctly guess what the "market value" of any player is.  There just isn't the history in college to judge things with any real basis.

At this point I think it's kind of like selling a house. If you can get even one buyer who will pay $250,000, then that's the market price.

Another thing that needs to be regulated.  Lots of street agents out there. 

And I wasn't intending what I said as much of a criticism of Pittman.   It's more of an indictment of the process.   It would be tough for anyone to manage a roster and keep track of accurate NIL valuation, which is why we need someone dedicated to that role.

I finally watched the whole press conference and Sam implied this would be the case. He said he would welcome back those who entered the portal "the right way". When later asked to explain that, he basically said those who came to talk to him and explain their situations/reasonings were welcome back; those who just announced it via Twitter without his prior knowledge would not be.

From listening to that presser a few things kind of jumped out at me that I already knew but anyways.


We are going to be perpetually 2 years behind everyone else in the SEC. Namely in NIL but also in every other aspect. This football program does need someone knowledgeable about putting together a legit modern operation for what amounts to professional sports. The more Pittman talks about being "surprised" by the money all the time it tends to make people believe him. You can't be this unaware...you have to get out ahead of this shit. You have to have people that aren't caught off guard by what's coming all the time. And you have to be willing to float some shit about how we're not paying some lineman that's getting knocked on his ass consistently XYZ dollas.

It sounds like we paid a lot for a little for this past season and he wants to pay a lot to be spread across the board and maybe upgrade our depth but it certainly feels like we're playing UNO and everyone else is playing Chess.

To add to this who did we "over pay for" for this past season? QB? Probably. RB? Yep RBs are a dime a dozen to use a Texilla reference. I'm sure we pissed away a lot on DBs and LBs and some on existing players like Landon Jackson who underwhelmed after being hyped.

Our offensive line was marginally better over the prior season but the bar was really low and if anything they barely made it across.

I don't know who's actually getting paid real money? Maybe 35 to 50 guys out of 85 schollies? Surely not all these cats are getting these really good deals.

Fire Hunter.  Hire a GM for football.  Hire an AD for all other sports and remove football from the portfolio of the AD.

"I was driving down in the central part of the state yesterday and caught a few hours of sports talk on The Buzz (or is it The BAZZ) 103.7. One of the shows had your ex QB Quinn Grovey as a host and the subject of a GM for the Razorbacks came up. First of all, he made a statement that GM's wasn't "an SEC" thing as he thought only Bama had a GM (wrong), and he seemed to be caught by surprise that a GM was an actual thing in college football now. Is your administration that far behind? No wonder Pittman is overwhelmed. Here is a career position coach thrown into a head coaching job and now he is saddled with roster management, salary cap management, drafting and free agency. I think this is an issue with all old school head coaches now. Oh well."
