you don't 'sign' players nowadays, you buy them. and if your coach is mid at best, why in the world would they come for less money.

if a team's medical staff/trainers come on the field after the ball is spotted to check on an injured player, that team is charged a time out. if you don't have any time outs left, a 5 yard penalty will be assessed.

I'm glad they're doing something to fight the fake injuries, but it seems there could be a better way. Seems like it could lead to teams deliberately cheap shotting players to injure them and either bleed the opponents time outs or cost them five yards in a key spot.

My choice would be if a player gets hurt he has to sit out the remainder of that possession unless the team calls time out.

That would have been a simpler and more efficient, so they didn't do that.

You missed the key part..."after the ball is spotted". If you're really hurt from the previous play, you won't wait. You'll be hurt before they spot the ball and the training staff will be on the field.

I have been saying that from the beginning. If you leave the field due to injury, you aren't allowed back in for the remainder of that possession.

I don't want to speak for Dirk, but I think he got it.

Fake injuries need to be penalized by sitting out the rest of the possession.

Real injuries, for safety, need to be addressed by having the player sit out the rest of the possession.

It doesn't really matter when they come.

So they'll just fake die before the ball is set.

I kind of agree with what they did but I also agree it should be something like this...

Any stoppage in play to address an injured player shall result in that injured player prohibited from participation for the remainder of the possession OR until the offense has advanced the line of gain at least 3 times since injury...OTHERWISE...any special teams action immediately following said possession shall also be prohibited in participation by the injured player.

Any stoppage in play after the ball is placed signalling play to continue should result in a team timeout or 5 year penalty for the injured players team.



My thinking is if the offense has since made the line of gain 3 times that represents a decent passage of time in which the defense can get their boy back on the field "safely" in general terms. So that may also be 3 straight plays in a row and if that's the case maybe they need to tape that dude up and get him back in the fight. Could be 3 plays could be 9 to umm math things...

Yeah, probably need something to address the fact that the rest of the possession could be one play and 5 seconds, or 10 plays and 10 minutes.

No idea why and not based on anything other than gut feeling, but I kinda think we might be better this year than most expect.  By the end of the year line play had actually improved some and our offense was kinda something that nobody wanted to go up against.  We were pretty fucking salty. 

Petrino knows how to get production out of people even if on paper they don't look very good.  We shall see what we have when the year starts, but who knows.  The Defense scares me more than anything.

End of the year line play seemed to improve when we started playing guys that probably should have been playing over the guys that got paid. Mostly due to injuries and having to juggle the line around a bit.
