Maybe but more likely he'll drop down a bit and as this goes on they'll be less likely to commit to him long term. 

Doubt Sam is coach here for a ten year stretch so this feels like a make or break season coming up. If he makes then maybe he gets an opportunity to stay into years 7,8,9,10 etc

We win 8-9 games this year, he is back in 2026.  6-7 or fewer and we have a new coach.  We win 6 or fewer in 2026, we have a new coach in 2027.  I don't think he survies any season with 6 or fewer wins if the proceeding 2 year stretch hasn't been better than 8/9 wins in each season.  

I like HY and I believe he knows 5+ seasons with a 6-7 win avearge isn't job saving for any coach.

I honestly think Yurachek believes this the best we can do under the circumstances, or at least close to it.  He's way underselling our potential if he does.  Either that or he thinks he can't afford the buyout.

The only way Sam gets fired this year is if the season goes so badly that the post-covid record falls below .500 cutting the buyout in half.  Not even 5-7 would do it, unless some boosters are willing to step up and finance a significant chunk of Sam's parting gift.  All my opinion, of course, and it's jaded by what I see as a lack of regard for or insight into our football program by the leadership, and by the curse that has Arkansas athletics in its death grip.

I am of the same thinking but not because Yurachek thinks BLS is the best he can get, but because of the turmoil in College football at the moment. Until the playoffs, NIL and portal gets normalized, I don't think the PTB will want to change when things still changing in CFB and Basketball and Baseball are doing good.

All of this is correct. He could go 5-7 this year and next and still not get fired. At this point, I'm fine with that but they need to direct more of the revenue sharing funds to basketball and baseball. If we have no expectations for football then fund it accordingly.

My prediction is to just sneak in over the number at 5-7.

Same.  If you aren't going to care enough about football to put competent leadership in place, why on earth would you throw good money after bad in revenue sharing, especially when you could use those funds to gain a competitive advantage in the sports where we do have a chance to win something.

Yep. I read that Kentucky is allotting 45% of its rev share to basketball. No one else in the conference is giving more than 25% to basketball but we should be.

How many years are left on Sam's current deal? I think he probably does just enough to not get fired and then retires. The days of rolling over a coach's contract every year for recruiting purposes are gone.
