The latest I heard, this is from a former player: Devo and Muss had a physical confrontation in the locker room, Devo is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and changed meds, Devo is in fact gay but everyone in the program has known that for three years and no one cares.

The gay bi-polar angle is kinda working though. I can see it on both accounts because Devo has always been Jekyll and Mr Hyde on the court...stands to reason he's the same way off the court. If I'm not mistaken as people get older with that condition doesn't it become a bigger problem trying to manage them on the meds?

Anyway this entire season for me with Muss is a "pass"...if he has another turd like this next season then we'll be looking to hit the eject button. I'd rather he leave then we fire him because the media won't pass on the opportunity to call Arkansas fans crazy with too high expectations after all he did and they'll be halfway right.

I could see Muss being offered the Texas job when it opens and it might open after the season, but really the west coast jobs I think will be much more attractive to him. Muss' star has fallen but I don't know that it's fallen that far. This season of playing dead may not be entirely by accident...

Then again he's got a school age daughter or two that he may not want to move so this talk of him going anywhere may not be realistic. I think he cleans house on his staff though after the season either by his choice or someone upstairs helps him make it. After you lay a turd like this someone's head has to roll.

Also clearly this team for two years has had major chemistry issues. Anyone with eyes can see it. I wonder what could be the problem?

When you let a malcontent, petulant, quitter keep driving the drama you deserve to have a shitass team atmosphere. Bipolar, gay, autistic, narcoleptic, WTF-ever "disorder" people have, use it as a crutch to be an asshole or to rationalize poor behavior or expect preferential treatment because "I have issues". Guess what, everybody has issues.
That's a you issue.
If you can't manage to follow directions, run a designed set play, quit making bonehead erors, stay awake, show up on time, use Excel, etc,. then I need to find somebody who can. If it hurts your feelings and you get mad and stomp out because you throw tantrums because "I'm mad, you're mean for making me do something required by my job and you told me to do it," then by god you need to move on.
I let you back to work with the rest of the team after doing that not once, but twice? I'm not getting respect from anybody.

Anytime you build a new pick up team every year from freshmen and spare parts, you're rolling the dice.

Even Cal, who molded the model, had a losing season a couple of years back and has laid a couple of other turds.

No chance in Hell -- Texas is very unlikely to hire any coach from Arkansas, and certainly not one coming off a losing season.

You can't play favorites and be buddy buddy with players while cussing them and demanding discipline.  It just can't be done.  It always blows up spectacularly in the end.

Yes all the tea leafs are on the table and they all point to terrible management of players and therefore they have lashed out. This of course assumes some or all of it is true.

Same thing with the coaches trying to be their buddy...in the end it doesn't work out. If you treat them as equals they start getting the idea that they are equal.

Why is it so hard for us?  Lesser programs do much better with their hires.  I wanted Lon Kruger when we hired Mike.  He wasn't flashy but he could coach and took OU to a Final Four.  And though I've been pleased with Muss, it looks like Porter Moser may end up being a better hire.  Ole Miss gets Beard.  I could go on with other examples.
Why is it we have so much trouble getting it right in basketball?  Elite coaches don't have years like this in their fourth or fifth year. 

He deserves a chance to fix it next year, but this isn't encouraging.
