How can you be an employee of a school and that school not have any record of your employment.  That is essentially what the school is saying.

I agree.  It seems sketchy at best. 

Some journalists tried to get the info from OM regarding Beard's buyout on his original deal and kept getting stonewalled for this reason.

I'm assuming his actual salary(which is probably minimal) from the school is public info but the portion from the "Rebel Foundation" is what they aren't disclosing.

If they are paying in public money then I'd think there would be no basis to reject FOIA requests. Then again in Arkansas our new governor is passing laws to help insulate her shenanigans with state funds from what I understand. This may help in aid with coaches salaries in the future?

Same thing is done at Arkansas.  State employees are capped at something around $300k for maximum salary.  So coaches are employees of the school and employees of the foundation. 

This has been done at Arkansas for at least forty years.  I thought everyone knew this.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how we've done it for years. Muss's salary from the U of A may be $500k and the other ~4MM comes from a contract with the Razorback Foundation which is a private entity.

People thought Bert's buyout was one thing because of the contract he had with the school.  Then they discovered it was something else because someone had made a cut-and-paste error and failed to paste the same language into the Foundation contract.

Extenuating circumstances on the coaching hires.  We have always paid well when coaches perform.  We're paying a hell of a lot more per win than most of the league, in football at least.

This isn't football though.  We have yet to cheap out on basketball. 

I believe there is a faction that provides a ton of our money for NIL and the like who realizes that we will never be a national power in football and directs their investments towards sports where success is a legitimate possibility.
