Oher claims it was all a lie, and the Tuohys owe him money.

Retired NFL star Michael Oher, whose supposed adoption out of grinding poverty by a wealthy, white family was immortalized in the 2009 movie "The Blind Side," petitioned a Tennessee court Monday with allegations that a central element of the story was a lie concocted by the family to enrich itself at his expense.

"Based on a true Story," is all that has to be said.

I read the complaint.  It's certainly creatively written, it'll be interesting to hear both sides.

The complaint noticeably doesn't say anything about the last ten years of his life and why it took him so long to bring this lawsuit.

They are ole miss grads, why would you expect any different?

White people taking advantage of the black man.

Supposedly he just found out that the rest of the Tuohy family got paid for the movie.

Color me shocked that a family full of Ole Miss alums would try to profit off a black man without paying him.

Some of us (probably most on here) saw this for what it was when the world was sucking Leigh Anne's dick for being philanthropic.  It's not about them enriching themselves...Sean is loaded anyway.  It was all about delivering Ole Miss the kind of player they would never get on their own merits, in a somewhat legal manner.

If there is any justice Sean's good buddy (and I think Oher's agent) fat fuck Sexton will be exposed for fucking over a client and end up sucking cocks  under the old bridge in Memphis for Mac and cheese money.

He probably doesn't have a leg to stand on, but fuck them.

Wasn't Hooty in that movie?  Can we hold him liable or in contempt or some other legal bullshit?

Didn't he do an insurrection or something?

well apparently they never adopted him legally per the lawsuit. They just got him to turn over into a conservatorship so they could profit off his ass. Seems pretty fucking shitty if this is true. Wouldn't be surprised. Not sure why now he's bringing this at 37....I assume because the nfl big money has done run out and he's jobless?

Well if you read the article or even a few posts above, he just found out in February this year.

But yeah the NFL pension may not make ends meet.

The article made it sound like he wasn't really worried as much about the money as he was upset about finding out the family straight up used him while promising him a family that he never got. The newly discovered conservatorship in lieu of adoption was the final straw. "You can draw up papers to take my money, but not any to make me your son." Pretty screwed up.

I think the confusion is that the complaint reads like the conservatorship has been in place this whole time.

That can't be true.  He's had an NFL career, endorsements, etc.

If it's just about the money they made from the story behind the book and movie, that's fine, just not sure how it took him this long to realize the financial arrangement.  Surely his lawyer/agent/someone in the last decade-plus asked him how much money he saw out of the deal.

yeah who knows however Leigh Ann has her foundation and has been using Michael's image and name to promote it for years. That can't look good.

Also, sounds to me like instead of adopting him they chose the conservatorship...perhaps cause they didn't trust him at his age to be financially sound to make decisions about his career ect. Will be interesting to see if they profited at all or paid themselves a conservatorship salary during those times and why they didn't give him any profits from the book the movie was based on.

A conservatorship can be limited to certain financial aspects.

You make a good point about agents, but he may not have had a good one.

IF the allegations are true, the fact that he was never legally adopted is shocking, given everything Ive been lead to believe. It also sounds like Oher was led to believe that as well. Isn't that the premise of the story?  Hard working white folks adopt a poor black child, who then turns into football greatness?

Add to that, they not only didn't legally adopt him,    the Tuohys then had him sign over conservatorship after he turned 18, on the cusp of an NFL contract and movie deal.

They may skate in court, but the optics look very shady. Like they found their mule and hitched their wagon to it, shady.

Wasn't fat fuck Sexton his agent, at least for a while?   He was in the picture with them all on Oher's draft day.

Please for the love of God let it come out that Sexton fucked over a client by conspiring with those who effectively stole money from him.

Part of the issue is the media is mostly sports and entertainment doofuses looking for a salacious story of black boy exploited by evil white folks, a dark turn to a successful feel good story, on and on.

I think when the legal folks do a deep five it will be a far drier story.  I don't think the Tuohys took this kid in with an idea it would make a great book and movie and they'd exploit this kid.

I think the real story will be rooted in then strict NCAA rules and trying to maintain other's eligibility.  He was 18 while still at Briarcrest which complicated things.  He couldn't be formally adopted as he was 18, while adult adoption only conveys inheritance without financial responsibilities so ncaa has an issue there.  The conservatorship seems to be the toll they came up with.  Tuohy was a "booster" in the eyes of the ncaa and under scrutiny.

Now Leigh Anne has been touting this as an adoption all along so that might get messy for her foundation.

The worst part of the movie: they cut the hot fuck scene with Sandra bullick and Kim Pickens.
