Regular season win-loss records are essentially meaningless in the NFL.  Especially when you consider that every year there are 2-3 inexplicable losses to horrible teams that prevent the team from hosting playoff games if not the entire postseason pre-Super Bowl.  The last few years the Cowboys have had enough talent to compete with anyone, and they've repeatedly shit down both legs under pressure.  That ultimately has to fall on leadership, or the lack of.

You are correct and that has been the running theme of the team for years. Other than the years between Troy and Romo the team has been mostly good in regular seasons; the issues since 95 have been playoff incompetence.  And the questions have been recently are focused on this very issue. 

Can Dak lead a team thru January to a Super Bowl?  Based on his 2-8 playoff record I would say it's a resounding NO, and I would not have made him the highest paid player in history.  Start over.  Can Fat Mike win in January?  A problem in Green Bay and same here.  Should have been fired in January.

Then what else is there?  Stamina?  The nfl is a grind.  The games are grueling, but the season requires great discipline, endurance, and attitude.  I think this is the crux of the problem and it goes right to Jerry.  You think someone from the 64 team, who was taught by JFB that endurance was the key to football, that it wouldn't be the issue.  But this team always is out of gas when they start the playoffs. 

The players are pampered.  After Switzer Jerry moved camp from the heat of Austin and Wichita Falls back to SoCal.  Valet parking at the Star.  Personal lattes and smoothies.  No accountability. The whole culture is refined and soft and it comes from Jerry instead of the coaches. This is what has to change.  Stephen drafts fine, the team usually has competitive talent.  But their balls are gone in January.  The jones need to get out of team culture element and turn that to a coach they trust to do it.

this part. there have been mediocre coaches and less talented teams that have been able to catch lightning in a bottle and at least get to the sb, and sometimes win a trophy, since the cowboys have. it's 100% a culture issue.

personally i think jerry quit really caring about the wins/loses some time ago and more about building the brand and his wealth than the "we gotta win now" stuff he feeds his fans.

No one wants to win more than Jerry.  Without a cap he'd spend a billion dollars a year to win.  The issue is he is driven to win with him getting the credit. Despite all his successes as a brilliant owner who turned the league into this cash machine, being in the hof, owning a $10b + franchise he paid $75 mil for, building an incredible world class stadium on mostly his time, and being wealthy beyond his dreams from oil and gas and real estate and the rest, he knows all the credit for theee rings goes to Jimmy.

I refuse to believe that Jerry cares that much about on-field success, except with how it affects the team's value.  A guy who cares about winning and who isn't a complete moron with no knowledge of the sport wouldn't have hired many of the coaches Jerry tried. 

If you told Jerry he could win a Super Bowl and earn a billion extra dollars, or go 8-8 and earn a billion and one, he's taking the latter.

the salary cap has been around for 30 years and every owner is constrained by it, not just jones. don't buy the idea that he could just spend his way to a winner because there's a lot of rich guys that could do that also.

But when they are all are yucking it up on the pre-game show or after the game, does Jimmy ever say that?

Dowdle averaged 5 yards a carry and wasn't used much.  Zeke averaged 2.1 on too many touched against a team expecting pass every down. 

The problem is who replaces Mike.  Schottenheimer is a proven shitbag.  Zim?  Al Harris?  Bets are shifting to Bones, the Special teams coach who has the only performing squad
