I don't see how Jaylin Williams could play defense in today's game. At least what he did then would never work now.

An offensive player can do absolutely anything to get to the basket except extend the arms and push off, or spray mace in your face. Everything else is fair game no matter how good a position the defender is in or how long he has been standing there.

90+ % of offensive fouls have been eliminated from the game. I'm not sure why the PTB wanted this.

Because the laymen on the street that don't know shit about basketball want scoring. The PTB know that. Scoring brings eyeballs and TV screens. I hate it but that's the reality.

I am a semi-St. John's fan now. Never have been before. I kind of enjoyed their Walter Berry and Chris Mullin teams until they beat us. I was at that game in Salt Lake City.

But the viral Pitino halftime video kind of made me a fan, and now Big East champs. Or about to be. I'll have them as a secondary team in the tourney after the Hogs.

I met him in Miami at a Louisville/Miami Thursday night football game in the early 2000's. Told him I was a Hog fan and appreciated the games between us and KY. He was complimentary of Nolan's teams.

I thought the NIT required a .500 record or better.  I guess like everything else, it's a brave new world.

 

Also, it sucks being the ONLY team beaten by both LSU (3 conference wins) and South Carolina (2 conference wins).

 

LSU men's basketball will decline its 2025 NIT invitation, according to LouisianaSports.net.

A Tigers spokesperson cites the team's injuries as the reason for the team's decline.

The SEC receives two automatic NIT bids annually, awarded to the top two teams who failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. LSU, like South Carolina, opted to decline the invitation this March.

LSU will finish the season 14-18 overall, 3-15 in conference play and second to last in the SEC.

A-State got a NIT invite so that pretty well tells you where that tournament is having to go.

That's not to shit on A-State but when teams aren't trying to build for the future there is literally no reason to continue playing in what amounts to a meaningless post-season tournament that I'm going to guess puts no additional money in any players pocket. If they had a 1 million dollar pot of money to the winner then that tournament would get a lot more interesting.

Yes, when looking at the NIT schedule, SLU-Arkansas St. was literally the only game of mild interest. Due to my tenuous geography from each school.
