until rev share happens this type of thing makes the most sense for a lot of schools that are not football powers - find a sport and throw the majority of your NIL at it. They will likely get some more NIL buys and make softball their thing while they can and so far they are the only school willing to pay softball players big bucks. OU, Teasip, and the CWS programs will be like way down the NIL priority list at their respective schools.

There is only so much NIL money available for each school and most are not smart enough to funnel it to a sports where they can actually win.

Agreed, but like the very first nil deals for football it makes no financial sense and is all about making a splash.

For example, 24 RBI in 24 at bats. For another, in this last 5-game jamboree she had something crazy like 10 hits and all but one went for extra bases.
