Hagan Smith has more money than he did yesterday. $8M signing bonus.

The Orioles have traded Austin Hays. He is the outfielder that would play when Kjerstad didn't. Hopefully that means he will get to play more now.

Looks like Silent J is in the 5 hole today. I liked Hays but as you said, I hope it opens up more AB's for Kjerstad.

He batted 6th last night and went 1-4. He dropped a fly ball too, but they didn't rule it an error.

mccann takes a 95mph fastball the nose, gets it plugged, changes jersey, and goes back into the game.

He's a tough motherfucker. He probably won't see out of his left eye hitting RH for a couple days. They don't make many of his type (tough as nails) anymore.

Wow. That seems extra dangerous to stay in the game as a catcher, once that eye starts swelling.

I have a very good friend in LR who grew up in Maryland and is a huge Orioles fan.  She told me he became a legend in Baltimore this afternoon-- instantly.

Kjerstad optioned back to AAA today. It is hard to be an O's fan right now.

I really don't understand that.  He was hitting around .300.

i think he only had 2 hits since getting beaned. this is probably more about helping him regain his confidence back.

Kjerstad still hasn't played for AAA Norfolk. No clue what is happening.

According to this guy, the Orioles are heavy with left handed hitters and he was optioned down to make room for some right handed hitters. He expects Kjerstad to be back on September 1st when the rosters can be expanded by one player.

As for why he hasn't played at Norfolk, I don't know unless they're being extra cautious.

Can't find the MLB thread so I'll put this here since it tangentially involves the Razorbacks. Otanhi just hit an RBI single off former Hog Ryan Stanek in the bottom of the 6th to put the Dodgers up 7-3 in Game 6. Unless my ears are deceiving me, I heard the announcers say that Otanhi is now 18-22 with runners in scoring position in his last 22 at-bats. That is incredible if true.
I really don't care, Margaret.

Why, if you are Fox, do you even bid on MLB?

Playoff series are sent to FS1, which many people cannot get, instead of on main Fox which runs Masked singer and the Sunday night animation.

Pitiful.

That's true. Sports talk here in Memphis mention 17-20 or something like that late last week. That's video game on rookie mode type numbers. Ridiculously good

I thought a Razorback MLB catcher got nominated for the Hall of Fame today.

I was not aware until I looked into it that Brian McCann and James McCann are not the same person.

Incidentally, of the list of 14, the only one I thought man that guy's a Hall of Famer, was Ichiro Suzuki. Both for his groundbreaking cultural contributions, and what a hitter. The rest, I didn't know they were baseball players, or didn't think they are Hall of Famers.
