On this day in 2012 we fired Bobby Petrino as our football coach.

Twelve years later to the date, we are hiring John Calapari as our basketball coach.

Why do I remwmber that? It's on my birthday.

I'll never forget I was outside on the patio at Loca Luna in 2012, constantly checking woopig. When the news broke that evening I remember turning to my wife and uttering "he's fired". This is redemption.

I was at my kid's little league baseball game at Tyson Park in Springdale and read it on the woopigs.

If they donate to basketball, why not football. More people tailgate at football games, which means trips to Wal-Mart and Sam's, which would mean a better ROI?

Yes, people shop at Wal-Mart regardless, but if people see that they are contributing to football as well, it would be good PR.

I also have never heard of any connections of the Waltons to the traditional "big 3" sports-- Football, Basketball, and Baseball. But we have to remember, the Walton family has grown over the years. There has to be some younger ones around somewhere. Some of them may be interested. And, knowing their past history, there may be some alternative ways to help the program rather than straight donations to the NIL which will free up other money for the NIL.
