Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

Ok.

Enough of the tears over leaving.

Tomorrow I need to hear some gratitude over being the HC at Arkansas.

Married since 1986. I'll reserve judgement until I can view what he saw 38 years ago.

Cal often had coffee and made small talk with the Rabbi. After the Pittsburgh Synagogue massacre, Cal came to the rabbi shared his own connections to the area and asked what can I do.

Attended the Menorah lighting even after college officials advised him not to. Took an active role in speaking and encouraging everyone on a bad night of menorah lighting.

Cal is from the Pittsburgh area.
Fun fact, former Arkansas BB coach from that same area?   Lanny Van Eman.
Cal named him years ago as one of the influential coaches in his career.

I'm afraid the first of a half-dozen scheduled Hog Calls at the press conference will summon her inner demons and kill everyone in the room.

I wonder what Bob Holt would think about that?

I'm hoping we get a Cal with something to prove and chip on his shoulder. I hope he adjusts his approach and embraces the portal, even if it's just for key role players to provide leadership and push the young blue-chip players. What I do know is that he was a helluva recruiter at UK and Memphis, now he'll have a big bag of NIL loot and can really play basketball Santa Claus, making dreams come true.

The amount money that is going to be invested in this program is a big deal and a big change for the better, we're spending like a top basketball school. If this works out, this could really change the culture and power dynamics in our program. Let's be honest, this state is better at producing BB talent than football talent, now with NIL, it's cheaper to fund an elite BB program than a comparable football program. I know for many people my age and older remember the SWC days when we were relevant in football, but we have a chance now to be nationally relevant in a major sport since Red Boots was kicking ass. The amount of exposure that Cal will bring is nothing like what Muss brought and he did a helluva job until he didn't.

I ain't gonna lie, it will be weird as hell to see him in coaching our team after hating him all these years. That against UK next season will be crazy as hell.

I'm telling you there is a massive psyop going on with all this shit. Any time Arkansas has a coaching search the media is quick to pile on when we don't make a hire within 15 minutes of their attention span. Nobody outside of this state likes us...at all. It's become a badge of honor.

People just pop up and say mindless shit denigrating the hire if/when we punch above our level. Something we've managed to do with major sport hires over the last decade in a half more often than not. Petrino, Beilema, Anderson, Calipari, and even Muss were all significant hires pulled from good/great situations. You can go back to Lou Holtz and see that we did the same thing back then.

What does it matter to anyone else but Arkansas fans that we hired a former super star head coach drifting into his golden years? Who are we hurting? He did Kentucky a favor fallling on his sword and if we're being honest we'll take him. It matters because Kentucky didn't get the satisfaction of firing his ass. It matters because the media didn't get to see the train wreck they hoped to see.

The power of the media shitting on Arkansas during the hiring process that led to Pittman was on full display. They made it look like the keystone cops because they wanted it to look that way. It was clear nobody wanted the gig, mainly the narratives created have put into the minds of people in the coaching community that Arkansas is broke, Arkansas is this and that. Truth be told you don't hire Pittman if there are multiple other more qualified choices willing to take it at the price point we wanted. We would have had a champaign tastes on a beer budget or we just go budget and hope for the best for a five or six year stretch and it might just work.

We've seen it again this go around with national beat writers openly lying about possible sanctions and all kinds of shit. Before that we "drove off Muss" when anyone with eyes could see he drove himself off. Then NOBODY wanted the job because we're broke. When that didn't work and it was apparent Cal was taking the job it became a deal where he was trying to stay at Kentucky but they wouldn't let him. LOL...what stupid lies. Now it's that we're buying a title. Hey geniuses EVERYBODY is buying a title or trying to. I hope in the announcement and the press conference there are some candid remarks toward the media in respect to how it ended with Muss and how it's going with Cal.

Take names

Fuck these assholes. Here is UK's record in the NCAA the past 4 years:

20/21 - didn't make the tourney
21/22 - lost in 1st round
22/23 - lost in  2nd round
23/24 - lost in 1st round

Our record last 4 years:

20/21 - Elite 8
21/22 - Elite 8
22/23 - Sweet 16
23/24 - didn't make tourney
I need help and I know it.

I feel like most of the people in that clip don't really pay attention to college basketball. Rachel Nichols saying we'd be ecstatic to make the second round of the tournament? Anyone who's really tapped in knows this was probably good for both schools and Calipari.

Keyshawn Johnson showed us some respect.

I'm not surprised at Keyshawn's take.  NFL talent has more meaningful things to say about other sports than vice versa.
