I agree. That's why I don't mind chipping in if I have extra money to give. Now, if we continue to lose that will get old quick.

Individual contributions and privately owned companies is what will make NIL. The Yellawood guy at Auburn is a prime example.

I don't know. Get 20000 average fans at $100 a month and that's $24 million a year. Pretty good payroll.

Ole Miss has trouble getting more than 60,000 or so to a home football game.  I seriously doubt they can get close to a third of those to send in $100/month. 

There are two big contrasts I see in how they're coming up with NIL versus us. 

1.  They are better at mobilizing the "kinda rich."  The car dealers, owners of service companies, privately owned construction firms, PI lawyers, etc. We are used to relying on Walmart, Tyson, Hunt and other public corps and their execs/retirees. The latter isn't interested in or can't legally invest in anything that doesn't have a possible ROI. 

2. Their money people are better at handing the funds over to capable administrators and letting them spend it as they see fit.  Ours are in multiple factions competing for influence, and only give the really big money if they get a say in who's hired.  Just like the Six Flags crowd pushing Gus, the LR people pushing Nutt, etc.

Chris Jans wiki is super saying his the Arkansas coach now.

I don't have a huge problem with Jans...he's won at each stop. He's not had great tournament success but I think you have to take in account where he's been doesn't necessarily equate to expecting tournament success. Just getting there is the benchmark at NM State and Miss State. I think he was one of the ones being talked about for the job before. Had some strong NM State teams. His past drunkeness is supposedly one of the things that made him a hard no before. Jans started his career in the Iowa and KC areas, did some time at Wichita State too. Think maybe his wife is from the Wichita area but could be wrong on that.

This stuff with Darrell Walker makes me think he's THE backup plan and they have a hard out for some time today or tomorrow.

Wade must not be in play because of the show cause shit. He's stuck at McNeese for another season then he'll get another SEC gig you can bet on it. Which means Mississippi State hires him about ten minutes after we announce Jans.

Then again this is our local media saying it's Jans or Walker and they have a stellar track record.

Jans wouldn't be an awful hire but Walker would be equivalent to Ewing at Georgetown.

Jans has only missed out on the post season once in his career, and it was the covid season. One CBI and six NCAA games. Not exciting but at the very least I think he would have us competitive. State is a hard place to win at.

He's not a Hog fan. He's a UMASS alum that has a podcast that's pretty popular for coaching searches. He's followed by several national guys like Goodman, Rothstein, and Borzello.
