This is my plan:
url="https://www.carrollbassteam.com/"]https://www.carrollbassteam.com/[/url]  either that or golf...but I prefer the idea of bass fishing since it would be a good excuse to get the best boat I can afford "For the boy's future" and potential scholarships.

Here you go bro. It's used but only $160,000

Quote from: Lurk on Dec 16, 2024, 05:40 PMBack to the Elkins game, their punter got injured and they kicked a field goal instead. The announcers called it a free kick, like it was something you could declare. I didn't hear the full explanation.

???
Quote from: Spiderham on Dec 16, 2024, 06:35 PMIn high school a FG that goes out of bounds in the field is the same as a punt. Returning team's ball where it goes out.
If it goes into end zone it is a dead ball and comes out to the 20.
They "attempted" a 70 yd FG.

The announcers had the wrong terminology (that shouldn't surprise anyone).  It's just another type of scrimmage kick.  Punts and field goal attempts are both scrimmage kicks.

I've heard there are a few teams that do this every time they need to punt.  In high school, a field goal attempt has the same rules as a punt.  The only correction I have is that I don't think it has to go out of bounds.  If they kick from their own 20 yard line for a "90 yard field goal attempt" and the ball rolls dead at the other team's 30 yard line in-bounds, the other team snaps from the 30.

The rule in the NCAA is different.  An unsuccessful field goal attempt comes back to either the 20-yard line or where it was snapped from...whichever is more beneficial to the defense.

Quote from: dhog on Dec 16, 2024, 07:57 PMArky did that after the blocked punt. Never seen that before.

Arkansas did this?  What game and what was the situation?  The only reason I can think of to attempt a field goal after a blocked punt is because there is only enough time for one play and you only need 3 points (or you would like an additional 3 points going into the half).

Yes, it's just treated like a punt, it can also be returned.

I believe the "Arky" being referenced is Arkadelphia High School.

OK.  That makes more sense.  Thanks!

I never realized the rule in high school was different than the college rule.

An interesting one to me is the free place kick after a fair catch rule.  When my sister was in high school in the late 1990s El Dorado won a game like this.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

That's what I thought. They were talking like it was a dead ball and some special rule.

If I remember right (I haven't looked at high school rules in 20 years and I've never really looked at the NFL rules), a free kick after a fair catch is an option in high school and the NFL but not in NCAA.  This does not apply in Texas as they use NCAA rules in high school football.

Texas High School Finals

These start today at 11am, 3pm and 7pm. They'll play the same times tomorrow and Saturday. They are being aired on FanDuel which used to be Bally's, which used to be Fox Sports Southwest. DirecTV 676.

I firmly believe a good college football team could be formed just out of the players that are playing the next three days.

Yeah, looking at some of the teams that Southlake beat, they had a shitload of D1 talent.  A good chunk of the SL D1 talent is hurt and out so not looking good for them.  Oh well, making the finals is a pretty damned good year all things considered.

This North Crowley team has at least 4 Power 4 players. They got speed for days. Deion is getting a WR that I would love to see at Arkansas.

KJ Edwards from Carthage needs to be a Hog.

Scott Surratt wins his 10th state championship, more than any Texas high school football coach.
