Well...that was a quick turn of events.

Bryant 28-23. Don't understand why they didn't go for 2 there.

Wow - 1 second from it being a sack and probably a fumble it is a Bryant TD instead.
Check your damn blood pressure!

Yep...that play was the game. 50/50 3rd down prayer and Bryant gets the TD.

28-23 Bryant final.

Elkins trails the '86 Bears Arkadelphia Badgers 7-0 in the second quarter of the 4A championship in the rain. On Arkansas PBS.
Oak Grove in the house.

RPL

YOUR Elkins Elks are getting beat so bad that I think PBS pulled the plug.

Anybody else have a black screen after that last Arkadelphia touchdown?

hit_that_line

Elkins produces exclusively losers.

27-2 over the last two years. Yeah right, losers,  :finger:

Don't play anyone up there. 28-0 and 124 total yards. What an asskicking!

Dickriding Arkadelphia...so on-brand for you.

Not sure how Southlake won, as they should have lost the last few games due to lack of talent.  Guess they will lose in the finals too.

Southlake missed a FG to win with 3 seconds left, but Longview roughed the kicker. After the penalty, Southlake made the FG to win.

North Crowley going for state against Austin Westlake! 817!

Elkins finished 7-1 against the top 20 of their classification, including beating #3,4,5. Obviously ran into a better team, with some key injuries yesterday. Still a helluva season for a small town school.

The dual state champ thing still seems odd to me.

North Crowley has an enrollment of 2,920
Southlake has 1,444

Both are in 6A, but how can you expect them to compete equally?   :sarcasm:  Thus Div 1 and Div 2.

Poor little underfunded Southlake always having to do more with less.

How they make it as far in playoffs every year is a mystery

I'd bet they have been using the portal.  Much like Bryant.

Ironically, the structure of Southlake makes this very difficult as there are no apartments, just single family homes and a few townhomes by city code.  Median listing price is around $1.7M so it is hard to 'stash' a kid in the district so they can play sports as far as I understand it.

The real secret is just a bunch of rich kids, mostly white, that get a fuckload of extra instruction/training to get every single drop of performance out of their limited physical potential.  Also, the "system" helps where from the earliest age, every single football team runs the same system so by the time they get to HS, the entire system is second nature to them with very little to learn.  Same with cheerleading.  You have little girls doing the same routines as the senior high girls the entire way up so it is all just second nature by the time they get there.  The problem is when they run into other well coached teams with more physical potential (like DeSoto normally).  Right now, we actually have two D1 commit RB's.  I think USC and somewhere else decent, both hurt, so our main running back is a converted receiver.  We might actually have a chance if those dudes were healthy and the current RB could play receiver.  Alas, they aren't and we will likely get boatraced in the finals like usual.  Still a great year all things considered.

Baseball is also another where all that extra outside school parent-paid training comes in handy.

Basketball...just can't overcome the physical limitations if you know what I mean.

My plan for my son is an alternate sport since, let's be honest, being a half-Japanese kid without a great athlete parents, he isn't likely to make varsity unless it is kicker or something.  Maybe baseball.

This is my plan:  https://www.carrollbassteam.com/  either that or golf...but I prefer the idea of bass fishing since it would be a good excuse to get the best boat I can afford "For the boy's future" and potential scholarships.
