The lack of a double base may have cost us a chance to go to Omaha in 2021.  Slavens fucked up his ankle on a play that the double bag would have prevented.  He was on a roll going into Hoover, and was pretty much an automatic out in regionals and supers that year.

Seems like an easy change to make for player safety to me.  It doesn't change fair/foul decisions...if a ball hits the colored bag bag of color, it's foul.  If it hits the normal base, it's fair, same as before. 

I just can't see any negative to it.

I see the safety side and have often wondered why it isn't adopted and was told studies show it would minimal impact at best.

You aren't wrong. 2nd base has far more collisions than any base but I would say steals are first by a 3 or 4 to 1 margin vs. force outs

They had the safety based at Interstate Park when the legendary Woopig softball team played there.
