That's the thing about this win that was so improbable.

It's one thing to come out with our piss hot and jump out to a big lead on a team (like we did Texas in 2021 or Ole Miss in 2014).

This was completely different. We were down 14-3 in the 4th quarter with zero offense and a paper thin defense against arguably the best offense in college football, and somehow came back to score 13 straight to gut out a win with our backup QB.

Quote from: Pumpkin Escobar on Oct 06, 2024, 08:05 AMThat was a great win. They showed a lot of grit and heart. Honestly, when they went up 14-3, I thought we'd end up like Meek Mills at a Puffy party.

That's what I thought too.  We've seen this movie... but somehow, our guys decided to win instead of trying to lose.  I think Singleton, if he settles a bit (and we don't have shit snaps), I think he's a better pocket passer than Green.  The ball gets out on time.

I think the big take away, though, is that the team managed to actually finish.  Even when we lost Green, normally dudes crumble the second we're behind on the scoreboard or lose a valuable teammate. I hope this is a new trend.

And with our win, we were overshadowed by Vandy's win over #1. College football...nothing better. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
Well, shit...

On another note.  We also owe the fans a lot.  They showed up and seemed to stay loud as hell the whole time, and that definitely helped screw up TN's O line.  Those penalties helped!

6th largest crowd ever. that's attendance not tickets sold.

not bad considering the disappointment they have been served.

Agreed. I've shit on our lack of a home field advantage a lot, but our crowd was nuts last night and affected the game.

One of the biggest plays of the game was Singleton's 1st down completion to Sategna on the final drive.

It was just a 13 yard completion but it got the ball in Vol territory and instilled some confidence. Then Russell had his two runs, and it was all she wrote.

Said it a couple weeks ago, we're not as good as we wanna be but not as bad as we think we are. We've beat ourselves in both losses.

He was just throwing shade at Freeze. He was complimentary of Arkansas last night.

Same thing against Texass back in 21.  Crowd really helped a lot.  In this case, though, we didn't jump out to a big lead and kept faltering instead of scoring.  But the crowd stayed in it even when we were down 14-3.  Or so it seemed to me.

Yes, October is breast cancer awareness month.

The refs at our high school game Friday night had pink flags.

Singleton running like Jack Sparrow on the TD scamper cracks me up
The same people demanding everyone embrace your beliefs, have zero tolerance and condemn another for embracing theirs.  Oh, the irony.

that's the way a GOOD football team plays.  Honestly didn't think they had it in them so I will continue to hold on to that rope.

Wish he would have gotten the ball on those 4th and 1's.

probably unnoticed, but our 2nd string kicker kicked it thru the end zone after our TD not allowing a return.  and not disappointed in the playcall for the 2 pt. conversion, thought he was gonna make it.

Who was the former player on the big screen in the 4th quarter?  I'm guessing a player from the 80's by age?

One thing that worried me a little was that our three rushing defensive linemen were absolutely gassed in the fourth quarter. I am surprised Tenn didn't try to run against them more. Great win. Hopefully we can rest up this week, heal, and play hard the rest of the year.
Well, shit...

I guess I haven't been paying attention, but Steven Dix was a new name to me, and he really played well.
