I don't talk to Mom's family anymore, and we haven't for years.  Dad's side of the family doesn't do Thanksgiving anymore because everyone is off doing their own thing.  Dad's gone, and Mom's in the hospital with a staph infection... so I'm smoking a prime rib for myself and the dogs.

At least when the extended family does get together in Carlisle we know not to bring crock pot dressing and jello molds.

Spent most of the day taking my wife to UAMS ER. Fortunately it was a light crowd and she came home with antibiotics. Finally got to take the turkey breast from Honeybaked Ham out of the fridge and stick the sides in the oven.

I had an aunt that thought she was the Julia child of Texas congealed salads.  Your raspberry jello with raspberries sounds great compared to some of the shit we were served.  My old man made me taste every one of them.  We'd get shit like lime jello with miracle whip, marshmallows, pimentos, pineapple chunks, and tuna fish.  Blecchhh!

Our grands pull the cheese off the pizza and don't want cheese on their burgers. But they eat raw broccoli and limes and lemons. Weird shit. I thought the jello salads were weird when I was a kid and still do. But give me some sautéed mushrooms all day. I guess each to their own.

I hope your better half is feeling better

She's doing better, thanks. She developed cellulitis on her right foot. I had never heard of it but it's very painful and before we went to the ER she could barely walk. The antibiotics are working because she's able to walk now and doesn't hurt near as much.
