Does anybody know anything about the Dazmin James kid? Supposedly a late bloomer to football but had better objective track numbers than Sategna. I assume he's still here as a redshirt. May have hands of Makhel Mitchell (ie stone) for all I know but just curious.
Pants ironed and back for more

Quote from: Trigger7672 on Dec 04, 2023, 06:24 AMThe thing that really concerns me on offense is our lack of big play threats. Petrino had plenty of those guys when he was here the first time. I honestly don't know if we had one play go over 50 yards from scrimmage the entire 2023 season.

He made 150 lb Michael Smith an all sec caliber running back

Michael Smith was good before he got here, he was just stuck behind Felix and DMAC. I'm guessing if you go back to the 2008 season when London Crawford was our number one WR you'll see we didn't have a ton of big plays that season either.

Lucas Miller ain't walkin through that door.

2024 is going to be rough, no two ways about it. We might conceivably be a better team across the board and end up with another 4-8 record. I would assume Texas and Missouri don't drop off, that LSU gets their defense fixed, and that Auburn finds a QB. I would also assume that A&M improves simply due to better coaching, though who knows, they may struggle in year one under Elko. Oklahoma State is a team that either gets blown out or blows out their opponent, doesn't matter who they play. Starkville hates us.

I see three sure wins, five likely losses, and four toss-ups, one of which is a true road game early in the season.

I think we could sneak up on Okie Lite early. Could see BP devising a game plan to score on them and their offense isn't otherworldly. That Gordon kid is a good running back, but he's about all they got.

Texas did whatever it wanted to them in the Big 12 Championship game. They also got housed by UCF and barely beat a lot of their Big 12 opponents. Plus, Gundy always follows up a good year with a clunker. I'd bet the house on them winning less than 7.5 next year.

OK State looked like warmed over shit early this season.

Only beat UCA by 14 (they were trailing 14-6 headed into the 4th quarter).
Beat a terrible ASU team by 12 (trailed at halftime).
Got housed 33-7 by South Alabama.
Lost to Iowa State.

They turned it around the next week and had a nice 5 game run before getting the shit beaten out of them by UCF, but their record belies how many close calls and brushes with disaster they had this season.

In case you missed it, Adam Ford's (Fayvillains) breakdown of Bobby's current-day offense and what it might look like here.

He's a lot more cautiously optimistic than he was over the Enos hire.

Like he said, it might fail but it has much more potential to work really well than the last hire.  I don't think anyone, including the players will lack faith in Petrino's ability to get it done.  Faith that what your coaches are telling you will work is how teams achieve that extra attention to detail that allows them to execute down the stretch and win games.

Holy shit, I did not realized we played Ok. State next year.  That is an absolute must win.  There are a ton of Cowboy fans in my office.  The other E.E. on my team, who I work with directly, every day, is one of them.  If we lose that one, I'll have to find another fucking job.

I'd start looking now to be safe.

Okie State is the most unpredictable school under Gundy...

They'll come after us with the same zeal as Missouri and we'll take it as just another game.
