At this point just about anyone would move the needle.  The fan base is checked out with Pittman in charge.  It's only going to get worse next year.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

I'd throw down for Chadwell.

Perfect blend of age (47) and experience (been a head coach for 15 years) who's won everywhere he's been.

Of course we won't hire him this year and will ultimately lose him to Auburn or Florida a year after we could've gotten him. It's the Arkansas way.

AporkalypseNow

It doesn't really matter as long as it's not a Morris or Pittman level hire, but let's go with the obvious and say Lashlee.

My number one priority would be someone who can use the portal, if a program like Vandy can do it...

Feral

As a general statement, "who you gonna get who's better??!" is the same bullshit chuds like Chuck, Irwin and Rick Schaeffer have been spewing since Nutt was here to keep fans accepting piss poor results as given.

We can upgrade and have. The uncertainty of hiring a good coach shouldn't outweigh the need to fire a bad one.

I'd find a successful group of five or FCS coach.  Some coordinator experience at the power five level would be great, but not a deal breaker.  Four years, $3-4m a year.  Success brings more money.  Figure out how to leverage what we save on coach's salary in NIL.

I think that's kind of an unanswerable question. Right now I really can't name many if any that would leap to come into a loaded SEC to take the same money they could make in a softer league. I don't see us pulling anyone from another SEC program. Would you take your chance on Row Your Boat or PJ Fleck that can't even win decently in a soft Big 10? Matt Campbell's name as faded away a bit but he's still around. Gundy isn't inspiring panties to drop.

NIL is hugely important but I would put it as a secondary concern to we just don't have a real leader at the top. We have a low energy slob that after 5 years just looks beaten down and fucking done. This job will do that to you. Time to plug in a new chicken.

Odom is probably among the best options we could have. That we can really speculate about. There may be others that are unhappy with their situations perhaps because of NIL situations that are worse than ours. NIL collectives became a nice slush fund for these athletic departments and didn't take Arkansas long to use it as a crutch.

Maybe he forgot to wish on a star.

Petrino came out of left field, as did Cal in basketball.

The resources and support are there for the right hire, but trying to peg it beforehand is tough.

Relatively reasonable expectations are a selling point.

there isn't an agent or coach that's going to come to the sec for that. none.

going cheap, it's the arkansas way

I wish we had future all-pro offensive tackles but it's just not in the cards for me.

Also,  how do you know this stuff wouldn't do better with better talent? Why wait to hire a new coach and give hin a better chance to win?

Rhett

Barton Fink

Rhett isn't coming. Many on here said hell no to him years back when he was an OC.

Barton Fink

Is there anyone against Petrino as HC?

vegashog

AporkalypseNow

He isn't getting it done as OC, and didn't get it done as HC at Louisville or Missouri St.

So, yes, I'd be against it.

Damn as long as we're wishing, I wish he would have fumbled the snap is a better one for that drive.

I wish we could cover that TE throw in the flat.

I wish we would have covered the 2-pt conversion and then converted on our 2-minute drive.

So many things to wish for.

Lashlee has learned what Arkansas fans have not. It's a helluva lot easier to win at a place like Arkansas in an easier conference.

Fact is we aren't SEC material.

AporkalypseNow

Neither are Missouri or South Carolina, let alone Vandy.

But any good coach has to consider it's easier to win at Georgia or Bama, no doubt.

You don't think he would do much better than this year with better talent?

He's well on the downhill slope, and I think his brain is much better at Xs and Os than Jimmy and Joes, it's not just about money, it's about influence/salesmanship.  Sure NIL money helps Cal, but it's Cal being who he is that brings in great players.
