Went to the bowl in Nashville where we shit the bed against Minnesota. What a waste of time.
Well, shit...

That was brutal. Didn't it start snowing at some point?

Almost forgot. I went to that Independence Bowl against Georgia when we had a guy throw about 12 interceptions.

Now that I think about it. I've been to 5 bowl games, all losses.

Yeah, it kind of sleeted and snowed all afternoon.

With 30 mph winds out of the north.

It's no wonder Jason Allen's leg fell off.

I was at that game, too. Absolutely expected to win that one. I guess I was naive back then. Players didn't give a shit then, either.

While we're going down memory lane, my favorite bowl I attended was the 2000 Cotton Bowl Classic.

We woke up New Years Day wondering if Y2K had ended the world as we knew it and then proceeded to watch  Stoerner, Cobbs and company whip that #14 LongWhorn ass up and down the field.

After the game, we were at On The Border when Stoerner and his family came in and the whole restaurant stood up and called the Hogs.

My favorite bowl game will, of course, always be the '78 Orange Bowl.

I know I'm more of a pussy than most here, so I guess I had better cold weather gear.   Neither the Liberty Bowl nor the 2002 Cotton Bowl seemed all that bad to me.

Quote from: FNG on Dec 10, 2024, 01:45 PMMy one and only Liberty Bowl experience was in 1974 when a college girlfriend invited me to go see Tennessee play Maryland in what was then known as Memphis Memorial Stadium.

I came away with two impressions: I had definitely underestimated the ability of Memphis to freeze my ass off and Randy White was a very baaaad man on the football field.

I was there too.  In the endzone freezing.  I was for Maryland as I was still mad from the 71 Preston watts game.  I went to several thru the years and saw us play bo Jackson and Auburn.  It's the boldest place on earth that night.  Come damp air and usually fucking bad wind.  No way I'd ever go back to that shithole.  In fact the only really good time I ever had there was 76 4th of July.  ZzTop worldwide Texas Tour with Skynyrd, blue oyster cult, j giles, outlaws.

I think the cotton vs k-state is the only bowl I have seen us win

The cotton bowl was the best operation as well as the rare bowl win but the sugar bowl was the most fun.

Are we going to end up having someone off the soccer team kick?

Check your damn blood pressure!

I'm trying to think of my in-person bowl record.

1984 Liberty vs Auburn L ( Bobby Joe Edmonds)
1988 Cotton vs UCLA L
1989 Cotton vs. Tennessee L
1991 Independence vs. Georgia L
1999 Cotton vs. texass W
2001 Cotton vs. OU L
2002 Music Shitty vs. Minnesota L
2003 Independence vs. Missourah W
2009 Liberty vs. ECU W
2010 Sugar vs. tOSU L
2014 Texas vs. texass W

4-7 overall.  Given the trajectory of our program and my lack of giveashitability towards it, you can probably go on and carve that in stone as my final record.

I don't think J Geils was on the bill for that particular concert but Live La Grange, Free Bird, Don't Fear the Reaper and Green Grass and High Tides in one sitting had to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Side note: July 4, 1976 was also America's Bicentennial and (I looked it up) the high temp in Memphis that day was 79 degrees!

Right now it looks like the weather will most likely be in 50s in the day and upper 30s at night with a chance of precipitation so factor that humidity in and it will be chilly if any wind
Yep. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It could have lived. It didn't. Not by my choice. -Elvis

I'm really looking forward to seeing who the fuck we put out there to make a competitive game out of it.

If any of the young ones show out, they'll get poached after it.

JuJu Pope is now listed as a RB...this roster has all the portal guys completely off. I hate when they do that because nerds like me will go back 15 years to go "who was that guy that played on the 2004 team. Fuck this staff.

RBs (as of now but will likely change)

1. Dubinion (holy shit how bad do you have to be that nobody wants you)
2. Russell
3. Hill
4. Reed Jr (little bowling ball had a few good runs in spring) scored in the UAPB gam
5. Pope?

Tight Ends

1. Andreas Paaske
2. Probably an offensive lineman
3. Maddox Lassiter (great porn stache)
4. Shemar Easter (probably still won't see the field)

Wide Outs

1. Broden (can't catch but is tall)
2. TeSlaa (he can catch, gets open but is white and the QB doesn't get him the rock)
3. Jordan Anthony (little guy)
4. CJ Brown (can't catch)
5. Monte Harrison (30 something)
6. Krosse Johnson (has participated in a couple games this season)
7. Khafre Brown transfer from USF, 2 catches on the season
8. Dazmin James *** freshman has participated in some games
