According to an email confirmation we are staying at Aspen Winds on Fall River Tuesday - Thursday.   She elected to not book a room at Stanley. 

Looking at the what someone else told her it is appears we may get involved in some or all of the following:

In town - Poppys.  If it's a nice day, ask for a table outside by the river
Near town - Rock Inn Tavern      You get the mountain "vibe" here (locals) & they usually have live music - great steaks & hamburgers too!
Pizza - Antonios, across the street from the Estes Park Ark store
Breakfast & Lunch - Notch Top (in the Safeway shopping center region)
BBQ - Smokin' Daves, 820 Moraine Avenue.  There is a second location inside the Estes 18 hole golf course too that's never as busy.

Lilly Lake, Eagle Plume Indian Trading Post, St. Malo Catholic Church.

Bear Lake, Spargue Lake, Alluvial Fan, Endo Valley Picnic Area, Alberta Falls.

I've only been to rock inn mountain for drinks and live entertainment.

Oh mama rose's came highly recommended last time we were there...I'd probably hit it again as it's decent Italian for middle of nowhere.

I hate poppy's. It's always overcrowded with tourists and no help so expect to have shitty service. They do have an outdoor area by the river which is nice but I'd pass.

They have a post chicken and beer there now but that place has gone downhill here so no clue what it's like there.

Its not even haunted it's all bullshit. Also they charge $500 at the Stanley and it doesn't even have ac in summer. Fuck that noise. Also the fact that you have to constantly have rando tourists taking up all the parking and wondering through the hotel is annoying.

20 years ago I remember going to rested park and the entire Mexican restaurant we went to was run by Russians. It was awful and they refused to give us ice in our drinks. We soon came to learn throughout our family trip all over Colorado the Russians had invaded the state tourism and were working every restaurant in tourist towns

probably the same place. Imo most of the tourist mountain towns around Colorado have sub par food. Estes park being one of the biggest culprits although they have slowly gotten some more selections.

Not that it's a mountain town I guess but I've been really disappoint with the food fare in Golden for sure.

I don't go to golden for food a lot but bonfire burritos everyone loves and there's always a line and it's just ok. It's a tourist town and thus doesn't have the best selections...a lot of those places have been there years. I go to golden for the breweries not the food.

I ate some pretty good Mexican food in Frisco, Co this past summer.  Casa Sanchez, I believe was the name of the joint. 

Could be that I was really hungry after a hike, or my expectations were very low.

I've only eaten brunch there at Bread +Salt and it was decent.

On another note it's 55 and gloomy af here. But will be 80 here next week

We ate lunch one day in pagoda springs at a place called "the lost Cajun". It was lunch time and the only place we could walk in...turns out there's a reason.  It was pretty much tv dinner Cajun garbage.  The inside looked like someone had googled "what does a Louisiana restaurant look like" and went with the first three options.  Lots of LSU crap, beads, football picks, alligator pics, associated swamp chicanery, and what I suspect were eastern bloc refugees just taking a swing at it.  I ordered a bowl of gumbo, and I swear it was Campbell's tomato soup over a spoon full of rice with a couple pieces of kielbasa floating around ....0/10...would not recommend.

The ONLY redeeming quality was they had Mr. Pibb....which I didn't have, but my wife loves.

Finding anything decent in downtown Estes is kinda hard.  The Mexican places are mostly shit.  There's one on the east end, south side, can't remember the name, but it's pretty good.  Actual Mexican type people working there...

How is the food? Picked the best weekend weather wise to be up there

Just got back from the Tavern Inn.  Food and drinks were good. 

We enjoyed the drinks at the Stanley.

We dont have to eat at Smokin Dave's ever again.  BBQ was okay. 

Weather has been awesome.  Cold but not too cold.  Sunshine  Been perfect really.

We were there last the week before the Colorado St game.  We stayed in some condos within sight of Stanley but walking distance to town. It was a nice spot. That weekend, a bear wandered into the Stanley lobby.  
Loved Estes Park.
