Yeah, it was my most miserable mow of the year.

Mowed to 80% of completion.  Good enough.

Yeah I got out there about 6:30 and mowed about 80% too. Fuck that other 20%.

You would be surprised at what they expect out of an "American Experience".  Good friends of ours are from the UK and we always laugh our asses off when they have friends or family come visit.  They want to see the "Great Prairie of Oklahoma" or go to a major league baseball game and watch a shitty Royals team take on Detroit in front of 3000 fans.  Being able to jump into an 80 degree lake blows their minds.

I mean, if that's the American experience they're after, then it's a real shame that DogPatch shut down!

Mine showed 112 back in May on the day that I had to be unloading two grain bins off a flatbed.  From here on out I'm only renting forklifts with A/Cs

Still 105 here in Houston.

We have not had rain since beginning of June.

This summer has been different.  I've lived down here for 20+ years now and we have never had a summer like this.   It has been a solid 6 weeks of temps over 100.  I can't recall one time in the past when the temps hit 107 and this summer that has been multiple days over many multiple weeks. 

Now, other than the grass looks dead and the trees are dropping leaves like crazy, if you spend time outdoors like I do you can't tell it's really hotter.  I was talking to a sprinkler guy this morning about it.  He said the same thing.  It's hot, but since he is outside all day every day it doesn't bother him.

We both agreed that we feel bad for the Mr Potato Heads who are a biscuit shy of 3 bills.   Those folks are dying right now.

My experience has been the opposite.  For the last two weeks the weather app has said 101-102 most days.  On the drive home every day the last two weeks the truck has registered 105-110.

Not sure what the weather stations have been saying but suspect they have been higher than the app and have aligned with my very scientific truck.

To be clear, I definitely believe that there are shenanigans going on when it comes to temperature reporting.  The only thing I really trust is the old school thermometer on the back porch.

It has been hotter for longer than normal summers, but it hasn't been life on earth ending hot.

Truck thermometer is not accurate. It's reading the air temps coming off the pavement.

All last week Open Weather had Sunday here in central Arkansas at 107 for a high. It didn't come near that but with the humidity it felt like 117.


I agree these apps are borderline not useful


Google's weather app seems to be fairly accurate but changes so often it's hard to take it to the bank.

There have been days lately where the app will show it's sunny and no precip when in truth it was light rain and cloudy much of the day but the app would never acknowledge such.
