Quote from: BleedinRed on Aug 17, 2023, 10:06 AMTo be clear, I definitely believe that there are shenanigans going on when it comes to temperature reporting.  The only thing I really trust is the old school thermometer on the back porch.

It has been hotter for longer than normal summers, but it hasn't been life on earth ending hot.

They have most measuring stations near airports, giant asphalt solar gathering spots...I can't for the life of me understand why the temperature is higher....😮😮😮

I've been attempting to braze a half rotten air compressor tank up using coat hanger and very low oxy/act heat. No not the one from a few months ago that was 60 years old. This little guy is a Husky air compressor circa 2000s. I think I may have got it on the last try but probably not. I think the issue is it's cooling too fast and getting brittle. Using a coat hanger isn't bad actually...I got a project for my camper I'm going to do in a couple months I think I may try that method.

Oh and it's hot as balls but not nearly as bad as last weekend.

I'm not exactly an OSHA bro, but if you do manage to get that "half rotten" tank to hold, hopefully you don't plan on running very high pressures in it.

I appreciate repurposing/repairing stuff as much as anyone, and love Macgyver'n stuff, but some things arent worth the risk. If there's heavy rust in that tank, scrap it and get a new one.

This was on my laptop homepage when I opened it up tonight.

Wrap a ratchet strap around it. That oughta hold.

I was mainly just tinkering to see if I could get it done. The coat hanger is flowing but just not well enough to get it sealed up air tight. My hvac brazing rods just run all over the place even at very low flame. Welding steel with a copper-silver alloy I know can be done but I aint good enough. I think I could continue working it and it would seal up eventually. You got to get that steel hot enough to melt but not hot enough to blow thru and the coat hanger melts long before the air compressor tank steel so there is a lot of trial and error. I'm sure there is purity issues with the coat hanger and/or steel tank that's also causing issues.

Rather be hot than cold, bring it on! Hydration 24 hours or more ahead of time is a big key not as it is happening as many do.

When I was coming through Comway, the HI was 121, then I got this. The temp reading on the car consistently read 105 to 107 from Conwat to Alma You cannot view this attachment.

Fuck that shit in the face, 10,000 times.  Everything over 80 sucks donkey balls.  I'd prefer anything between 32 and 72.  Being outside doing ANYTHING when it's 104 simply sucks ass.  hate it with a passion.
