In hindsight it had to be coaching.  Aloy didn't even hesitate on going to third.  He was probably told to do that when they huddled up on the mound right before that. 

At the time, that may have been the play, since we had trouble turning a DP all game. In hindsight, the runner heading to first looked like me heading there. Timed with an hour glass.

The good thing? We don't get our hearts ripped out today.

This is why the UCLA fuckup in the 8th was so disastrous. The second we made the first error last night, that shit crept into our minds that we were going to give up 3 runs again...and we did. 

This was on coaching, I love DVH,  but he will never, ever win a title.  When you allow them to take the foot off the throat it allows doubt when it matters.  He tightens up in big games and so do his teams.

You make a joke, but literally you tighten up to the point that it is like the yips in golf.  Your brain gets an involuntary signal and you dive instead of making the routine play.

I do think this was DVH's best team and you can tell from his emotions in the PC. We had pitchers for today but would've been facing their ace I would assume. I feel bad for Davalon. He knows he should've made that catch. Aloy should've turned 2 as well.

How do you dive under a fly ball so far that it hits you in the legs?

I'm not going to watch it again but last night it looked like he second guessed himself right as he started to dive, hesitated, and then slipped/dove anyway.  Like he had the thought that he could catch it on the hop instead and hold the tying run.

It's a hard catch to make but in the moment you can't be thinking "what if I miss it?".
