I'd argue talent is made up of more than physical ability.   Intelligence, where give a shit lives, is at a minimum equally important. 

Desire isn't about intelligence or lack thereof.

There is an element of intelligence in talent, sure.

But lack of desire can outweigh the two combined.

You have to want to want to give a shit.  More important than talent.  At a minimum our defensive players are missing that crucial component.  Therefore, physical talent is not relevant to the discussion.

At best/worst at this level, differences in physical talent are very slim.

It wasn't lost to the officials but that doesn't change the FACT that the officials made several horrible calls that impacted the final score of the game.  We SHOULD have won handily anyway with even moderately competent coaching though so that is why I'm not blaming the officials for the loss.

A well coached team overcomes those things and knows how to avoid them.  Well coached teams don't have three boneheaded turnovers.  Well coached teams yank loafers off the field and out in someone else.  That fat fuck couldn't coach anything much less. If time football.  Fire him tonight or else there's a solid chance we're doing this again next year.

I surely am serious.  You're touting physical ability.  Yes, Matt Jones was one of the most physically talented guys I ever saw, but every game he went into a funk for a couple of series of plays where his head wasn't in it all.

Effort is a human psychological/emotional trait. It's in you or it isn't. It can't really be developed or honed like a muscle.

I've always said it's easier to get better at a skill than it is to get someone to play harder. As you said, either you have it, or you don't.

Football depends more on the team aspect than any sport. What keeps you playing hard is not wanting to let the rest of the team down. When your roster turns over yearly you can't build that respect amongst the team. You don't have a team, you've just got a bunch of guys wearing the same uniform.

Pittman just doesn't have the ability to get these guys to buy into the team concept in such a short amount of time.
