If the $35MM that woodhog listed is accurate and it's solely for the roster then we're in WAY better shape than I imagined. Even if you remove the rev share portion it means there's over $20MM in NIL. It's not Texas/OSU money but it's enough to be competitive quickly.

Didn't like the hire initially but I like RS, he's doing and saying all the right things. When we hired him, just felt like we took what was left because frankly that's our status currently. Better jobs were available. But he wanted ours and is busting his ass.

That's pretty accurate, but I won't hold my breath on the "plan in place".  I'll believe when I actually see it.  I think a lot of the folks who are a bit negative are just cynical at this point, like me.  Been lied to too many times to believe a damned thing. 

Lots of folks SAY the "right" things... I want to see results.  I'm very interested to see if they really DO tailor their schemes to the players as RS keeps saying he does.  Though, I remain very skeptical of the Memphis offense working here.  The size and speed of SEC defenses just doesn't lend itself well to having smaller more mobile linemen, and stretched field side to side... unless you have freak athletes.

NIL is important but if you give the money to the wrong guys that's just as bad as not having money.

Talent evaluation and coaching are still important - look at indiana - no one ever mentions their NIL like they do with Texas Tech.

The question I'd have to ponder is are we figuring on using that over multiple seasons or just going to blow it all in one season? I figure a certain amount is held back as contingency.

That was my assumption. $24MM in football NIL is much higher than what we've been led to believe over the last couple of years. If that's accurate then there was a big influx.

I think the QBs we have on the roster are good enough to move forward with given if they want to continue being here. I'd much rather spend money on OL/DL/DBs than I had any other position group

$24 mil to go to 85 players...i'm sure they aren't all getting a piece, but i think a mil for one guy is too much.  the market economics may tell me i'm wrong.  hard to know without the data.

but for the love of all that is fucking holy, spend some money on the offensive and defensive lines, get a decent rb, lb or two, and some db's.  i think wr and te are a dime a dozen; lots of guys can be good at those positions.  i'd bet our receiving corp this year cost a lot less than alabama's and i'm not sure theirs was any better, although williams is a beast.

Our OL wasn't entirely terrible. It had some weak spots which can be murder. Our biggest factor with the OL was a QB that wouldn't pull the motherfucking trigger and the tape don't lie. We had guys running wide fucking open a lot of the time. 

I'd argue if we stuck with KJ the entire game against Missouri we win.

Any idea how much Mendoza got? I haven't had any reason to follow portal recruiting and never heard of him before Indiana. Was he a can't miss guy and they won the bidding war, or a great evaluation by Cignetti and his staff?

Williams is a beast when he actually catches the ball.  But, he ain't Jeremiah Smith, and he needs to remember that.

He was a 4star in the portal rankings.  Indiana's 2025 portal class was ranked 25th, ours was ranked 15th.

They probably piss on Indiana players the moment they commit like they usually do players that commit to Arkansas and suddenly that 4th star goes away.

I remain convinced rankings only mean something over a long period of time. In brief snapshots it's not overly indicative of anything. That of course will likely change considering how you can flip a roster in short order.
