Quote from: Piggielicious on Sep 06, 2026, 03:24 PMThere's a lot of dumbasses out there. That's why we will continue to lose for a long time. We have losers running the program and rooting for the program.
Those losers are going to bring back Nutt in some capacity.  Just to finally destroy it all for good.

Y'all remember where you were when Bobby crashed out the way people remember where they were on 9/11. (I'd just finished a bike ride.)

I was on a remote job site with no cell service in the office.  PM had to go to McDonald's every day to use the wi-fi and send our reports, and he came back like "Bobby Petrino crashed a motorcycle."  I thought it was an April Fools' gag.  And then on the day of the firing I get a call from Matheson that it was coming about an hour before the announcement dropped.

God offered us an oasis in our desert of despair, and we walked away from it because we couldn't forgive a personal mistake.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

I first thought it was an April Fools Joke.

When it was true, I thought, I hope he is ok.

Then when they said there was a passenger, I thought his wife was with him, and hope she is ok.

When they said it wasn't his wife, I said, "Fuck." Knew we were screwed.

I read it here first when the Arkansas State Trooper posted about it. When he first posted he was being vague and "I know something you don't know about your hero," type shit. Then I point blank asked him if what he was saying was BMFP had a wreck, then he started spilling the beans, then disappeared from the thread. He was almost giddy about it. These are the types that were excited to run him off, and the ones that would still line up today to crown Nutt as AD.

Except he wouldnt be lining up, because not long after that he took his own life.

I was in Court in Benton, AR.  Got finished and had a message to call my daughter.  I called her and she told me this wild story which I really didn't believe at first...

I wish we had the old board's archive of it. Somebody posted that Petrino's kid left the bac in a pissy huff. I knew it was all over. It's been over since then. He needed an off season to get some defensive coaches and players in place.

Long and Bobby should have figured out a solution thru the original situation.

But he had his shot last season and failed.  Hes not the right guy anymore. His offense looked stale against tcu.  And he's a shitty recruiter.

Tex I love you but you are so wrong. Look at the point discrepancies last year. Watch them this year. He needed a minute to get the defense in place. Instead we got a dollar general coach in a shitty hat.  It's all about being competitive. We were competitive in every game last year.

I don't know how anyone can have such hatred for Pittman and can accurately recognize how shitty of a team he assembled and then also equally blame a coach who takes that shitty team over 5 games into the season.

BP wasn't given an honest chance to show he could bring the program back from the depths of the hellish hole that Long/Smiles/Billema/Morris/HY/Pittman helped dig.

To suggest he was given every opportunity to earn the coaching role is just ignorant.

Here is what I do know.  When BP took over in 2008, the program got better every single season.  When he took over 5 games into the season last year, the team got better every game.

Blame Long and HY all you want.  Arkansas fans are a major reason the football program sucks.

I know in 2009 the refs had to bail out Florida and LSU against us. In 2010 they did the same for Auburn. If Joe Adams doesn't drop 17 touchdown passes in the Sugar Bowl we might be talking about being 1-1 in BCS bowl appearances.

I'm willing to look past how his last run at Louisville ended and pretend he would have made us respectable again.

Scoop and score the damn ball!

I think he probably would've went 7-5 or 8-4 with that 2012 team, probably had a bounce back 2013 and gone 9-3 or 10-2 again, maybe done really well in 2014 as well and then the recruiting and lack of quality defense would've caught up.

By 2016 or 2017 he most likely would've wore out his welcome. That's just my take on that alternate timeline.

In 2012 he beats ULM and Rutgers for sure. I don't see him beating Alabama or A&M. He definitely finds a way to beat Ole Miss in Little Rock. But I think we still lose at South Carolina and maybe in Starkville as well. Not sure if we beat LSU. Probably.

This seems like a reasonable expectation.

If he had indeed shit the bed and been fired after 2017, the odds are we wouldn't have been hiring the likes of Chad Morris to replace him.   That's what the "Bobby would have crashed and burned" people miss.  A program he had coached for ten years would have had a much higher profile than one bottomed out by incompetence like we saw.

Absolutely. We avoid the abyss that Razorback football became and pretty much has been. The crazy thing is we have made the stadium nice as shit despite being mostly terrible since 2012.

I want to take pause for a second and congratulate Buff on another successful Bobby Petrino should still be the coach thread.

It's more than coaching.  Bobby is not the man for the modern business of college ball.  He's at best an OC without administration or recruiting duties.  Silverfield might not be the right guy, but Bobby wasn't either.

Unfortunately Lane Kiffin is the new model; we might not like it but in the land without laws, the ones exploiting that succeed, at least until real law returns. Dabo wont do it out of ethics, Bobby is too lazy to do it, most of the other old guys don't know how to do it.
