I have heard Nate Bargatze suggested as guest picker, which would make sense and be a much bigger deal.

They have an early hour as well before the official start time.  Which makes no sense...why not just say it starts at 8am?

Chris Stapleton might be a choice for guest picker if he's in the area.  He was a biomedical engineering major at Vandy prior to saying fuck it and hitting the road with his guitar.

College GameDay is renown for its celebrity guest picker that take the stage at the host site. With the show heading to Vanderbilt University for the big Vanderbilt vs. Missouri game, fans were hoping – many outright pleading – that one particular guest be given the role. But they were left disappointed and then outraged.

The wildly popular YouTube channel "SEC Shorts" became a national sensation last year following Vanderbilt's historic win over No. 1 Alabama. The channel introduced the character "Vandy Pimp," portrayed by SEC Shorts co-creator Josh Snead, that has become downright iconic among SEC fans of all teams – even the ones the Commodores beat.

Further encouraging the idea that Snead or other members of SEC Shorts might be the guest picker is the fact that they have a working relationship with ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit, who does an ad read at the end of nearly every video they do.

It seemed like a perfect choice.

And on Thursday, SEC Shorts announced that Vandy Pimp would, in fact, be joining the show. However, they clarified that they would only be appearing in a brief block at 9 a.m. ET.

"It's happening. Sort of," the SEC Shorts official X account announced. "Not as like the guest picker but he'll still be on the show sometime between 8:00-8:15 (CT)."

As thrilled as football fans are to see SEC Shorts get featured on College GameDay, many more angrily took to the replies to lament ESPN not having the guts to make Snead the guest picker for the entire show:

"Of course @ESPN would fumble the Guest Picker choice. They've done so most of this year. Jelly Roll, a Tennessee fan, as the guest picker in Athens? For a game where the visiting team isn't even Tennessee? Really?" one user on X replied.

"Bruh we literally all wanted him as a guest picker like read the room man Give the fans what they want," another wrote.

"Guest picker or we riot," a third declared.

"Cornelius Vanderbilt could be rolled out from a freeze chamber like Austin Powers- and the people would still prefer Vandy pimp go kayfabe in the GameDay chair. In a world where the easiest decision could blind you it's so right in front of your face- why only half ass it ESPN?"

ESPN likely feels that SEC Shorts is too niche to get people hyped. Their goal throughout the years has been to get someone who combines mainstream appeal with direct ties to at least one of the universities being featured (with some exceptions).

On one hand, an appearance on College GameDay will only further ensure that SEC Shorts gets a level of advertising they can't even pay for. On the other hand, it also feels like a missed opportunity.
