I guess my issue with what you said is that it seemed to imply we would hold Franklin to a higher standard than any other of his suitors.  The things you said above about impatient boosters will apply anywhere...and most places on our level or above seem to be even less patient.

Jimbo and Elko are each a prime example of the folly of the "splash" hire juxtaposed against the 'meh' hire.

One is a name purely to get the fan base excited, win a press conference, and give message board chuds a chance to gloat. None of it is worth a damn or does anything to translate to on-field success. 

The other is nothing that is going to make anyone excited, but is just a damn good football coach who knows what he's doing.

We could learn a lesson from that.
