Maybe the difference is what meat head is at the top of the food pyramid decreeing to the underlyings what he wants for the program. The head coach matters a great deal.

I was surprised this was their first outright title since 1948. In fairness though we've effectively eliminated disputed titles and this may have been a year to have had a good argument.

A lot of people didn't know what FSU was doing was against the rules, and it seems to me that they were doing nothing that a lot of other schools were probably doing.  Do you think it's boosters making calls to players in the portal offering them the NIL deals instead of the coaches?

Florida State upset some sort of balance by trying to leave a power conference that wasn't already dissolving itself.  Saying FSU is the only school doing what they're accused of is as crazy as expecting me to believe that Mississippi State offered Cam Newton $180,000 but that he decided to go to Auburn instead for free.

Yeah, this seems a little out of place in the modern era of completely setting up pay structures for players, and calling it "NIL" wink wink. FSU is being singled out.
