Ohio State should just save themselves from the fall from grace by firing Ryan Day immediately because no way that guy ever makes it back to the NATTY. Also this paves the way for a real mover and shaker with chicken nuggets to hire him to a legit SEC program where he will fail to meet lofty expectations before withering into obscurity of the Texas high school coaching circuit.

Worth every single penny...If you said we could pay whatever we are paying, plus 40M and win a football championship, even though it would hamstring us for years to pay off that debt and we would suck during that time, would you take that deal?

The point of money in college athletics, as far as a university is concerned, is to help you win.  None of these athletic departments turn a profit.  They always spend every single penny of revenue.  It ain't about pretty facilties.  It ain't about happy employees.  It ain't about any of that bullshit.  It's about winning.

Look at what the Dodgers are doing in MLB. Their 2040 payroll is going to be roughly the size of the national debt.  And good for them...win now, pay later in grossly inflated dollars. 

I almost wonder if Hunter gets a bonus based on net income for the athletic department.

Winning a national championship in football is an investment itself into the university. It garners more fan support, media interest, with the following of more resources.

Try to find Saban where he talked about the growth of Tuscaloosa before vs after his retirement.

Landon Jackson is on the National team. It looks like about half of the players are from the SEC.

David Walker, a DL from UCA, is one of three FCS players in the game.
