I just keep going back to a preseason interview (may have been on the Catfish Hole show) with Knox and Blair last year. Blair had been lighting it up through both spring and fall camps and Knox said something that really stuck out at the time. It was something to the effect of "Yeah, you make all the plays when you know what's coming". Basically saying that his effectiveness was based solely on his (and perhaps the other defensive players') familiarity with our offense.

Hopefully our secondary has developed more natural coverage instincts and will be less reliant on knowing what play is coming. I was not impressed with the coach we brought on last year (the one from Marshall). If our secondary sucks again, I don't think they'll be able to put it on the coaching. While the jury might be out on Wilson, adding Woodson back there should be a huge help.

The DC and I think one of the other new coaches have a lot of db coaching exp so I'm not worried. The guy from Marshall didn't recruit anybody that played last season that was straight up the failure of Odom. If anything the kids that hadn't had any college db coaching ended up being better than the ones that had.

Baylor is saying Ketron Jackson is going to have a monster year. I'm sure glad we continued to play guys like Haselwood and Warren Thompson over him. We could've used him badly this year.

I believe this.  Jackson should have had far more touches the last two years.

Jackson was our biggest portal loss. If given the pick I'd take him over Catalon, especially since our entire WR corps is new this year.

I went back and watched the highlights of a few games last year (Cincy, BYU, Auburn and OM) and Haselwood's continuous spin moves still piss me off. No telling how many times he could've gotten an extra 2-3 yards going north-south but instead decided do some circle X bullshit from PS5.

While Odom can scheme with the best of them, he deserves criticism for lack of recruiting and player development. Most of the key contributors in his tenure were guys pre-Pittman and transfers

Marcus Woodson is the real deal imo. If you listen to an interview of his, you'll see what I mean.

He got bit in the ass last year with the double whammy of moving to 4 down while also having multiple injuries and losses in the secondary. I wonder if we'd have won a few more if we stuck with the 3 down.

But its his responsibility to have backups ready to play. His 3rd year by then. Guys like Blair couldn't cut it.

We didn't run a 4 down last year. Every fucking long yardage and we're running fat man line twists that have zero chance to get home. Then the way our linebackers went inside blocks in run fits almost makes me wonder if it was coached. His system worked for a few games his first year I guess.

Yes we attempted a four down front but I think it was scrapped perhaps even before the opener because of so many injuries.

That Georgia safety was supposed to be starting caliber and he was a bit of a bust.

We lost Catalon and Bishop very early along with Carter on dline. Stewart I believe was MIA

WE played Bumper Pool's broken ass so he could break a record when clearly the kid behind him was better.

We continued to trot out Blair and literally no other 3 star or water boy on the roster could beat him out.

Going into our early season last season was a shit show.

Probably served a role by having a coach with sec head coaching experience on the squad with someone who didn't. After that need was met, it was time to move on.

I think KJ, if he stays healthy/doesn't miss a game due to injury, can reach the top 3-5 in all these spots

Good shot at all but attempts and yards, which depend on the time missed, new system and how often we are in close games.
